Result of Service Support all multimedia and communications aspects of knowledge-sharing events/sessions, as required by the Section, in a collaborative environment.

Work Location Geneva

Expected duration Three months with possibility of extension, up to 9 months.

Duties and Responsibilities The Knowledge and Learning Commons, at the UN Library & Archives Geneva, generates new opportunities for learning, knowledge exchange and collaboration for diplomats, UN staff and interns in Geneva. The Commons manages many sessions and events. For this position, the contractor will work closely with Events Coordinators to support multimedia and communications aspects of these sessions/events in a collaborative environment. The following functions are required:

Training and Knowledge Sharing

  • Organise and deliver training and handover to incoming events interns on the coordination process and assigned tasks.
  • Support interns and staff as needed in sharing knowledge on design and communications activities.

Multimedia and Communications

  • Produce visual content for events and in the 2 official spoken languages at UN Geneva (English and French): flyer, digital invitation and/or poster, video teasers, video recaps, etc. in coordination with the Event Organizers and Commons team.
  • Update the invitations and make changes when needed, and make sure all links and details are working.
  • Act as Accessibility focal point for the team, including: - Producing accessible event/activity invitations using InDesign and other Adobe Creative Suite products for Commons events. - Producing transcripts and video subtitles as required. - Delivering informal training to the team on best practices. - Producing social media communications as required.
  • Update the KLC website with the latest news and links.
  • In collaboration with colleagues, coordinate content on Commons events for distribution in the internal communication broadcast system.
  • Take the lead on the KLC newsletter, together with interns, and create mailing reminders for events.
  • Propose new communications strategies and products beyond events if needed (whether online, via social media and on-site at the Palais).

Moderation of Events - Moderate or act as Master of Ceremony, as needed, for events online, hybrid and in person, in English and French.

Experience in graphic design, video editing and production (preferably using the Adobe Creative Suite) is desirable.

Experience in producing and posting multimedia content for the web and social media is desirable.

Experience with conceptualising multimedia content based on programme objectives, and executing it as part of a collaborative effort, is desirable.

Experience with developing accessible multimedia products, and knowledge of accessibility needs in multimedia communications, is desirable.

Experience working in online event production and coordination is desirable.

Experience in using online platforms, including the Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams Live Event, and Webex Events is desirable.

Experience with gathering data, updating Customer Registration Management (CRM) systems and other systems for managing attendees (such as UN INDICO) is desirable. Academic Qualifications: A first-level university degree in communication, media and communication, video production, journalism, international relations, public administration or related field. Experience: Experience in in multimedia communications, including web and digital communications, social media production, photo and video production, public information, journalism, international relations, public administration or related area. Language: Fluency in one of the working languages of the UN Secretariat, English or French, (both oral and written) is required; knowledge of the other is desirable. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
