ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

Through its CSP, WFP supports the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Action (MGCAS) in operationalizing the National Strategy for Basic Social Security (ENSSB II) 2016-2024. In a context of high vulnerability to climate change and natural disasters, WFP support is focused on strengthening government capacities to improve access to social protection (SP) for the population affected by natural shocks. In addition to technical assistance to the government, WFP is also supporting the National Institute for Social Action (INAS) in operationalizing social transfers for the COVID19 response (in Tete and Zambezia) as well as it has supported the same program for droughts and cyclones. So much experience that now needs to be systematized and used as sources for different communication and research products. The intern will support the SP team with that, as well as with corporate powerpoints, production of knowledge products and other documents.

JOB PURPOSE

The intern will support with the development of communication and technical products that are much needed. The SP team has developed many new processes that are not systematized or organized. We also have a need for someone to support in the finalization of corporate products for the unit such as powerpoints.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate programme from a recognized University or have completed at least two years of the programme with a 12 months attendance a pre-requisite, preferably in Social sciences, Social work, International Relations, Economics
  • Currently enrolled in a master’s degree programme from a recognized University; 12 months attendance a pre-requisite.
  • Recently graduated from a Bachelors or Masters programme in the last six months.

Desired Knowledge & Skills

  • Proficient in the use of office equipment and computer software packages, such as Microsoft Word.
  • Knowledge of work routines and methods in order to complete processes under minimal supervision.
  • Strong knowledge of spreadsheets and databases (MS Excel and MS Access) or other databases
  • Ability to present information in the form of tables, charts and diagrams easily comprehensible
  • Ability to identify data discrepancies and rectify problems requiring attention
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills

RESPONSIBILITIES

The intern will directly support the SP/Act2 team with the following tasks:

  • Support operational aspects of the Second Social Resilience Dialogue for Adaptive Social Protection.
  • Assist in the production of briefs, meetings minutes and other products that relate to the content of the Second Social Resilience Dialogue for Adaptive Social Protection.
  • Support in the development of institutional material for the social protection team.
  • Assist in the development and updating of all communication documents, such as internal meetings minutes, official reporting requirements and visibility materials.
  • Conduct literature reviews to keep SP team up to date with the recent papers on SP.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • Duration of assignment will be 6 months with a posibility of extension
  • Duty station/location can be in Maputo or our field offices.
  • WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, travel to and from WFP internship location, necessary visas and costs related.
  • Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the maximum amount of US$575 per month depending on the duty station of assignment.
  • WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education;
