The Norwegian Refugee Council has an interesting and rewarding opportunity to be part of our newest country of operation - Sudan.

Who Are We ? NRC is an International Non-Governmental Organization that operates in more than 30 countries. The main headquarter is in Oslo – Norway. NRC resumes its operation in Sudan on March 2020 and since then it has established different Area Offices in Gadarif, Fasher, Geneina, Kosti and South Kordofan. NRC is mainly involved in different core competencies such as Education, Protection, Wash, Shelter, Livelihoods and Food Security and Camp Management. The current Country Office is placed in Khartoum.

The following is a brief description of the role.

Role and responsibilities

  1. Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines.
  2. Implement delegated CC project portfolio according to plan of action.
  3. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.
  4. Responsible for organizing and delivery of tasks in line with priorities and standards.
  5. Ensure proper filing of documents.
  6. Support in developing data collection methodology and tools and in actual data collection, as needed.
  7. Support M&E team in data collection in focused-group discussions and enumeration.
  8. Verify reported data by programme staff.
  9. Support M&E team in data cleaning and basic analysis.
  10. Handle and process beneficiary contacts received through suggestion boxes, in person visits, calls or emails. This includes i) collection of comprehensive beneficiary information and their feedback/complaint ii) accurate entry and categorization of the case in the CFM database, and iii) following up and eventually closing the case with beneficiaries according to complaints, and feedback mechanism (CFM) SOPs.
  11. Collaborate with Digital Hub Community (DCH) and programme teams to ensure cases are documented and resolved.
  12. Conduct necessary internal and external referrals for service requests and conduct protection referrals, including Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), in line with NRC SOPs
  13. Maintain M&E folders on shared drive by keeping them up to date and consistent with NRC's guidelines on filing, file sharing and data protection.
  14. Conducting data collection at project sites including quantitative and qualitative data.
  15. Other activities agreed and discussed with the M&E Coordinator and line manager.

Professional competencies

  • At least 1 years Work experience as M&E in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • Minimum of a university degree in social science, economics, rural development or in other related fields. Prior experience with monitoring and evaluation is required
  • Post-graduate certificate in M&E related field such as surveys, sampling, data analysis
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Able to travel to other areas in Sudan.
  • Knowledge of cash-based interventions and market-based programmes
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Experience from working in IDP /refugee related programmes.
  • Experience with and knowledge of principles and current approaches to monitoring and evaluation in relief and development programs, using both quantitative and qualitative methods.
  • Experience in handling feedback.
  • Fluency in English & Arabic.
  • Computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of digital data collection platforms (KoBo, CommCare, Ona).
