Metal Carpenter

Result of Service Each Individual Contractor will:

- Construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures made from metal and other materials; - Working from blueprints or instructions from their supervisor; - Produce the layout, measuring, marking and arranging materials in accordance with building codes; - Cut and shape metal using hand and power tools; - Join the materials with nails, screws, staples or adhesives; - Perform a final check of the accuracy of their work with levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and surveying equipment, and make any necessary adjustments; - Implement and comply with all health and safety precautions; - Assist the infrastructure team in any other task, as required.

Expected duration The proposed individual contractor will be hired as soon as possible until the 30th of November 2022.

Duties and Responsibilities The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all peacekeeping and special political missions around the world as well as to other UN Offices, Agencies Funds and Programs.

This locally recruited position is located in the Infrastructure Cell of Campus Support Unit, within the Central Service (CS), at the UNGSC, Brindisi, Italy.

The Infrastructure Cell of Campus Support, responsible for the maintenance of UNGSC facilities and infrastructure, is seeking for qualified metal carpenters.

The incumbents will report to and work under the supervision of the Chief Campus Support Unit.

The Individual Contractors shall perform the following works:

- Build a metal shelter to cover the Dynamic Ups A and B roofs; - Replace the manhole covers to the three Fuel Tanks at DUPS A, B and C; - Installation of metal brackets for the positioning of fuses at the Inverters Photovoltaic Parking - Bldg B.

Qualifications/special skills Skills: Valid driving license is required. Academic Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of proven experience as metal carpenter in Engineering Field or related area is required. Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position knowledge of English is required.
