Objective of the programme

The Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh (GoB) has received a Credit from the International Development Association (IDA) towards the cost of Health and Gender Support Project (HGSP). Subsequently, an agreement established and signed between WHO and Ministry of Health (MoHFW), GoB. The overall objective of the WHO’s operational activities under the HGSP is to manage the HGSP’s investments on building capacity with respect to: (i) the management of Non-Communicable Disease (NCDs) from community up to district levels at all levels of care; (ii) diagnostic capacity on tuberculosis (TB); (iii) management of environmental risk factors (including health care waste) at and beyond the health facilities; (iv) strengthen laboratory facilities and safe blood transfusions; (v) preparedness and response to health emergencies from community to district levels; and (vi) strengthened coordination among different stakeholders.

Description of duties:

Under the direct supervision of the WHO Technical Officer (TO) and the overall guidance of the Head of Sub-office, the signatory will perform the following job responsibilities:

  1. Operation and maintenance of X-ray machine including other laboratory equipment.
  2. Maintain essential safety precautions during X-ray procedures.
  3. Record results (register, request form) and report as and when required.
  4. Analyze the X-ray results from the register monthly and quarterly and display the results including positivity rate.
  5. Coordinate with relevant authorities to plan and assist the implementation of required activities for TB diagnosis.
  6. Submit monthly report and a final draft report to TO.
  7. Perform any other related duties deemed necessary and assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

Essential:

  • Diploma in Medical Technology (Radiology) from any recognized university / institution.

Desirable:

  • BSc in Medical Technology (Radiology) from any recognized university / institution
  • Training on chest X-ray radiology.

Experience:

Essential:

  • At least 2 years of experience in operating radiologic equipment to produce radiographs.
  • Knowledge on standard and procedures of radiology (radiographic positions, radiation safety practices, etc)

Desirable:

  • Working experience on maintenance of radiology equipment, recording and reporting of X-ray taken and radiology supplies inventory.
  • Knowledge on diagnostics imaging procedures of the hospitals and clinics.

  • Monthly salary: BDT 39,395.00 (SSA – 3, Step I)
