Objective of the programme

The overall objective of the programme is to support MOH&FW for strengthening the National Influenza Surveillance Sites, Bangladesh (NISB) of Pandemic Influenza Preparedness (PIP) in its surveillance activities in the sites.

Description of duties:

Under the overall guidance of the Team Leader-HSE and direct supervision of the NPO (EHA), the incumbent will support the activities through carrying out the following duties;

  • Coordinate activities at the sentinel sites and project core team at central level.
  • Maintain liaison with surveillance physician, laboratory technologists and health managers at the sentinel site.
  • Record results (enrolment, history from) of SARI & ILI and report as when required.
  • Coordinate with MT Lab for samples collection from selected cases with the help of physicians and nurses.
  • Ensure of labeling samples for storage in proper temperature for shipment to IEDCR.
  • Monitor freezer temperature log for collection and transportation by dry shippers.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and use of equipment’s with safety and security.
  • To perform any other duties or tasks or activities as assigned by IEDCR

Required Qualifications:

Education:

Required: Diploma in Medical Technology Laboratory from any recognized institute

Desirable: Graduation in Clinical Microbiology or Virology

Experience:

Essential: At least 2 years of proven working experience in Laboratory.

Desirable: Experience of working in hospital setting in Clinical Microbiology or Virology lab.

Additional Functional Knowledge and Skills:

Essential: Knowledge on standard and procedures of laboratory (laboratory safety practices)

Desirable: Knowledge on sample collections, storage and transportation in hospitals and clinics.

  • Working knowledge of written and spoken English and local language (Bangla).

  • Monthly salary: BDT 39,395.00 (SSA – 3, Step I)
  • Health Insurance; Accident and illness insurance;
  • Annual Leave (18 days per year); Sick leave (12 days per year) to be prorated for the duration of the SSA
