The Division of Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) aims to achieve results for children by maximizing UNICEF's private fundraising and advocacy around the world. To carry out this mission, PFP coordinates fundraising activities and private sector partnerships with offices in over 50 countries.

The global team operates to support and enable countries in their fundraising, and this role works within that approach to support and develop the capabilities of teams, as well as supporting or leading the development of relevant global strategies. Individual Giving is one of UNICEF’s most critical sources of revenue and the PFP Individual Giving team, which this role would be part of, focuses on supporting countries to grow their individual giving revenue.

For every child, a Champion

This post supports integrating a marketing approach and marketing best practices into individual giving and supporting a shift toward donor-centricity. The successful candidate would provide support to develop the capabilities of teams for marketing topics, support the Marketing Manager in the creation of a Strategic Marketing Framework that supports the shift to market orientation (from a sales orientation) as well as support the development of more tailored supporter journeys driven by audience insight (including using Marketing Cloud as available).

How can you make a difference?

Marketing best practices and support to drive revenue growth

  • Work with the Marketing Manager to identify and develop holistic marketing approaches that deliver for acquisition, retention, and engagement growth in key markets.
  • Develop marketing tools, templates, and guidance for use by markets.
  • Provide training and consultancy for key markets and the wider PFP IG team and RSC colleagues on embedding marketing practices.
  • Support selected markets with marketing projects and upskilling.
  • Identify suitable suppliers from UNICEF LTAs and manage the procurement process.
  • Manage agencies and suppliers to deliver optimal results and outputs on selected projects.
  • Provide support to the SES initiative as it relates to IG Marketing.

Marketing Framework

  • In collaboration with the Marketing Manager develop a marketing framework for PFP, supporting PFP's shift from sales to market orientation.
  • Develop an action plan and tangible workstreams to deliver elements of the framework.
  • Support key markets to pilot the framework and secure case studies of positive outcomes.
  • Work in close consultation with stakeholders within and beyond PFP.

Campaigns

  • Act as the IG focal and liaison point for organizational priorities and taskforces e.g., COVAX, Climate.

Other Duties

  • Provide briefings and manage market research projects for globally commissioned IG research.
  • Support the Marketing Manager in other ad hoc tasks as required.

DELIVERABLES

  • Led the development of the Strategic Marketing Framework under the guidance of the Marketing Manager.
  • Implement the Strategic Marketing Framework in key markets to drive measurable revenue growth.
  • Project manage the implementation of IG marketing strategy projects ensuring projects are delivered within scope, budget, and timings.
  • Support the deployment of donor journey tools, working to support markets to adopt a donor centric approach.
  • Work closely with the retention, email and content specialist teams to feed into wider section donor retention strategies, showing evidence that marketing expertise is valued and utilised in these areas.
  • Maintained strong and excellent relationships with markets and other PFP stakeholders.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education:

  • An advanced university degree in the field of marketing or related fields is required.
  • Alternatively, a first-level university degree in a relevant field combined with 2 years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience:

  • At least five years of progressively responsible and relevant professional work experience in integrated marketing or equivalent experience.
  • This includes a minimum of 3 years of experience project managing multichannel marketing campaigns.
  • Proven strong project management capability with experience delivering through others required.
  • Experience working in global organizations with projects crossing multiple markets with different business challenges essential.
  • Experience in marketing or advertising agencies is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work across multiple projects, with multiple stakeholders and moving deadlines highly desirable.
  • Experience with Marketing Cloud desirable.
  • Knowledge within a global function of UNICEF or other International NGOs is desirable.
  • UN/UNICEF experience desirable.

Others:

Language requirements:

  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

UNICEF PFP-Geneva is currently reviewing organizational changes; therefore, the exact future location of the post is still under consideration/to be determined. Candidates may be asked to commence duties remotely. Should the selected candidate be assigned and relocate to Geneva, they may later be asked to relocate and be assigned to another location during the initial contract or assignment period.

UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance. Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station, which will be facilitated by UNICEF, is required for IP positions. Appointments may also be subject to inoculation (vaccination) requirements, including against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid).
