Aiming to feed 13 million of the most vulnerable people with food assistance, WFP’s emergency response in Yemen is the agency’s largest anywhere in the world. WFP also provides nutrition support to 1.7 million children and mothers, and delivers school meals to 850,000 children each day.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

These jobs are found in WFP Yemen, Aden. In the field, role holders typically report to the Head of Field Office or the designate. In RBs and HQ, job holders report to a more senior Logistics Officer. Job holders are likely to be working closely with a more experienced professional staff member receiving guidance and regular feedback on work performed.

JOB PURPOSE

To collect, analyse and report on information to maximise efficiency of the logistics operations and activities.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

↵1. Contribute towards the development of logistics plans and processes ensuring compliance with wider logistics policies and WFP standards for warehouse operations. 2. Provide support in the management of warehouse operations including all logistics assets in order to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of WFP cargo to beneficiaries. 3. Support operational day-to-day warehouse activities following standard processes and contributing, directly or indirectly, to the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries. 4. Coordinate warehouse operational plans with SC sub-units, other units and offices as needed. 5. Collect and analyze data through research and networking with colleagues to recommend actions to the supervisor to improve performance of warehouse operations. 6. Conduct portions of financial analysis and budget reviews, drawing out insights and recommending actions to the supervisor to optimize use of available funds. 7. Guide support staff, acting as a point of referral and supporting them with analysis and queries.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES - PART 2

Collate data and contribute to preparation of accurate and timely reporting for warehouse operations, supporting a WFP wide view of logistics activities that enables informed decision making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders. 9. Support the capacity building of WFP warehouse staff and partners for efficient and effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries (i.e. through contribution to the training materials). 10. Where supervisory responsibilities apply, adhere to WFP standard performance management guidelines and practices to contribute to achieving service objectives and to promote staff learning and development. 11. Identify and build productive relationships with logistics colleagues and staff in the warehouse operations to support an integrated approach to food assistance. 12. Follow emergency logistics preparedness practices to ensure WFP are able to quickly respond and deploy food and needed resources to affected areas at the onset of the crisis. 13. Act in an assigned emergency response capacity as required to meet emergency food assistance needs. 14. Other as required.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: 1 or more years of relevant work experience with an Advanced University degree in Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, warehouse management or other related field, or First University degree with 3 or more years of relevent experience. (Administrative/GS experience is not counted except years holding G6 positions or above – each year is counted at 50%)

Language: Fluency in Arabic language and (level C) in English language
