Org. Setting and Reporting This position is located in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), duty station Mopti. The Logistics Officer reports to the Regional Administrative Officer.

Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Regional Administrative Officer (RAO), the Logistics Officer is responsible for the following duties :

•Prepare logistics and support plans, deployment timelines and budget requirements for planned or new operations; Develop and review logistical plans for existing operations, to incorporate any changes in mission mandate or downsizing; •Liaise with Military Contingents, FPU, UNPOL and substantive personnel at the mission HQ or Field Office level, review plans and operational requirements to deliver requisite resources in a timely and cost-effective manner. •Assist MSC Unit Chief or RAO in preparing the short and medium-term support requirements of the mission HQ or Field Office to identify the resource requirements and factoring additional resources for any unforeseen circumstances. Develop logistics contingency plans to deal with emergent situations that may result from natural or man-made crisis situations; •Develop and implement methodologies and tools to enable effective execution of logistic plans; •Manage logistics operations, including, material and personnel; •Coordinate logistics activities with procurement, finance, humanitarian affairs and other substantive units; •Prepare logistics reports based on accurate and up-to-date information and data received from all relevant counterparts and distribute them according to requirements; •Participate in visits to geographical areas of interest; prepare technical reports and briefings; •Develop plans and coordinate execution of the Mission downsizing or liquidation and provide assistance to the Liquidation Coordinator in matters related to mission liquidation; •Identify, plan and manage special logistics operations; •Ensure that accurate and complete accounting, reporting and internal control systems are functioning and that all relevant records are maintained; •Maintain an overall understanding of logistics capability available in the mission area, including those of other UN Agencies/Organizations and NGOs; •Guide and supervise the work of new/junior logistics officers or staff; Ensure that supervised staff members are adequately trained and cross-trained; •Identify additional training needs to achieve high working standards; •Perform other related tasks as required.

Education High school or equivalent diploma is required. Recognized technical or vocational certificate in logistics, transportation, or supply chain management, is a requirement.

Work Experience Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible professional experience in planning, coordinating and managing multi-functional supply chain and support logistics operations in the field and at international environment is required. Experience in drafting the logistics reports, developing logistical plans, policies and SOPs is required. Minimum of two years’ experience in providing logistics and supply chain support services in a complex, volatile, conflict or post-conflict environment is required. Experience within the context of a humanitarian relief, military, emergency management, peacekeeping or disaster relief operation is desirable.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required, a working knowledge of French is highly desirable.
