Duties and Responsibilities The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all peacekeeping and special political missions around the world as well as to other UN Offices, Agencies Funds and Programs.

The United Nations Global Support Center (UNGSC) is seeking to hire an individual contractor to provide support across a range of logistics and administrative tasks of the Central Maintenance and Repair Unit (CMRU).

This position is located in the United Nations Global Service Centre, Brindisi, Italy within the Central Maintenance and Repair Unit (CMRU) of the Supply Chain Service.

The Logistic Assistant will work under the supervision of the Chief, Central Maintenance and Repair Unit (CMRU).

Within limits of delegated authority, the individual contractor will be responsible for the following duties: - Receives supplies from different sections, arranges for transportation and follows-up from delivery to destination. - Lifts and carries various goods and materials as required and ensures proper storage of supply materials (including dangerous cargo) in accordance with prescribe warehouse standards for storage and safety and international regulations. - Informs appropriate consignees on delivery of items. - Prepares and processes supply request and other documentation as required. - Drives vehicles to/from UNGSC Central Warehouse and other offices. - Prepares, processes and follows-up on administrative arrangements with respect to the movement of goods and materials. - Maintains up to date (both in hard and soft copies) Unit files, such administrative instructions and other related documentation. - Provides general office support services such as drafting routine correspondence and the distribution to various officials. - Performs basic database entry and extraction functions. - Checks accuracy of simple calculations, coding and data. - Reviews, records, routes and/or processes mail or other documents; gathers pertinent background material; tracks and monitors follow-up action as required. - Operates any types of hand tools and powered equipment/machineries. - Performs various material handling tasks in the most productive and efficient manner. - Adheres to UNGSC Safety and Health rules and regulations when performing each assigned task. - Performs other duties as and when required by the supervisor.

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: - High School diploma or equivalent is required. - Valid driving license type B is required. - Valid driving license type C is desirable. Experience: - A minimum of three (3) years of practical experience in Inventory Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or Warehouse Operations is required. - Experience in material and goods handling and general services within an international or commercial organization is required. Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required.
