LOCAL CONSULTANT - GRAPHIC DESIGNER/DATA VISUALIZATION SPECIALIST
Organizational Setting
The project “Development of sustainable and inclusive local agrifood systems in the north-west region of Azerbaijan” aims to establish local agrifood systems that integrate sustainable food production, processing, marketing, distribution and consumption supported by a demand-driven agricultural advisory services system in the north-west region of Azerbaijan (Gakh, Zagatala and Balakan).

Technical Focus
In this context, under the overall supervision of the Head of FAO Partnership and Liaison Office in Azerbaijan, under the direct supervision of the Assistant of FAO Representative, and the technical supervision of project manager, and in accordance with prevailing FAO Corporate Communications policies and practices the consultant will design the visibility materials of the project and other relevant media, including product labels and designs
Tasks and responsibilities
- Provide recommendations on the best and most relevant visual design style and the development of a visual identity for all project products that is in line with FAO policies.
- Transform text-based communication materials into visual graphic design materials to be shared with the Donor and national stakeholders.
- Provide support for the design of materials that fit the audience (from a technical, professional and cultural standpoint) at the national level in close coordination with the Communication specialist to ensure proper application of FAO rules and guidelines;
- Work with the other project consultants to ensure consistency of design for all documents and materials (including colors, images and text style) to be shared with stakeholders, including reviewing materials to communicate the operational guidelines
- Design the visibility materials such as brochures on success stories, extension learning materials (flyers) for outreach, local food guides and leaflets on culinary recipes
- Creating functional, clear, fresh, and attractive templates for promo materials, labels, and packaging of local food products that can suit the product type and convey the product’s message without interfering with it;
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
- University degree (at least Bachelor’s) in communications, design, art, graphic design, or related field, or relevant technical training/qualification
- At least 2 years experience in various aspects of design, including infographics and design
- Excellent computer skills and ability to effectively use graphic design software
- Fluency in Azerbaijani and good knowledge of English
- Nationals of Azerbaijan or with a residence permit

Knowledge Sharing and Continuous Improvement
Technical/Functional Skills
Proven experience in graphic production from start to published/printed product with knowledge of printing processes (offset and digital) and color management. At least 3 examples of previous works should be demonstrated.
- Previous affiliation/experience working in the UN or other international organizations and/or government institutions is an advantage.
- Knowledge of environmental/ climate change issues/ SDGs is an asset.
