Job Overview:

Based in Tapachula or Tenosique, the Cultural Orientation / Livelihoods Manager is responsible oversight of the Cultural Orientation / Livelihoods (CO) component of IRC’s program. Supporting the clients IRC serves in Mexico with Cultural Orientation and Livelihoods activities that are an essential contribution to their well-being.

Position supervises: Cultural Orientation and Livelihoods staff

Responsibilities:

Project oversight

· Lead on the Cultural Orientation and Livelihoods elements during the two-month project co-design process.

· Establish and oversee the implementation of work, procurement and spending plans for CO/Livelihoods activities.

· Lead, with the CO trainers, on the development of the CO curriculum; guide regular curriculum review and revision.

· Conduct site visits to manage project implementation, ensuring service delivery in accord with the project design and technical standards; proactively notify supervisor of any issues.

· Ensure effective use of resources, with expenditures aligned to budgeted activities and outputs.

§ Oversee and support local partner relationships, to include providers along the referral pathway.

§ Monitor quality assurance measures in project delivery.

§ Participate in program development and design processes.

· Ensure quality of project statistical reports and narrative program reports.

· Support the CO team with tasks related to administration and finance.

Staff management

§ Support on the recruitment of sector staff in collaboration with Protection Coordinator.

§ Orient new staff to IRC programs.

§ Observe CO training sessions and offer supportive/corrective feedback to trainers as needed.

§ Provide ongoing supervision, mentoring, training and technical support and guidance to staff, and ensure all adhere to best-practice principles in all aspects of program implementation.

§ Ensure project teams understand, maintain and follow ethical practices in data protection.

§ Deliver on-the-job training to enhance performance of CO/Livelihoods team members.

§ Ensure staff understand and follow the IRC way.

§ Document performance in accord with IRC’s Performance Management System.

Communications and reporting

· Ensure project data systems are maintained according to technical standards.

· Prepare regular update reports on project activities and submit to supervisor on schedule.

· Compile input to periodic donor reports as assigned by supervisor.

· Ensure proper program and donor visibility in the project sites

· Lead data analysis and interpretation exercises with the project team.

Coordination and networking

· Ensure effective working relationships with government agencies, donors and partners.

· Represent IRC at working group and coordination meetings.

· Participate in internal strategic planning.

Professional performance

· Perform other related tasks as assigned.

· Serve as an exemplar of the IRC Way: Standards for Professional Conduct.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

· University degree in relevant field.

· Experience in:

o designing projects and curricula,

o managing projects and supervising teams,

o training adults / youth,

o working in a non-governmental organization

· Skills:

o solid organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks, work independently, effectively manage time and meet deadlines;

o excellent interpersonal skills; empathy and ability to work effectively with colleagues, partners, and clients in a cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary environment;

o detail-oriented, flexible, able to prioritize and deliver well under pressure.
