Danish Refugee Council (DRC), one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified Liaison Assistant for its operations in Sudan. DRC has been present in Sudan since 2004 working across 4 area offices covering both immediate humanitarian needs but also engages in longer term development activities.

About the job

This role has a country focus and ensures compliance to DRC procedures and guidelines within the country. The role contributes to the development of country strategies, which are translated into action plans and day-to-day tasks. The role provides support and/or technical guidance to country operations while overseeing country activities.

The Liaison Assistant provides administrative or technical support within Safety & Liaison department - • In ensuring quality of the planning, implementation and follow up of sector activities

• Timely and effective processing of Technical Agreements, permits and visas to support DRC’s operations, developing and maintaining good relationships with the relevant bodies on national and state level.

About you -

To be successful in this role we expect you to -

Provide administrative and technical support to the Safety and Liaison Department, with close supervision of Liaison Coordinator,

- In establishing networks between DRC and central authorities in close coordination with the Liaison Coordinator and Safety and Liaison Manager - In processing/follow-up of project permission (Technical Agreements), country agreements, customs agreements and other permissions on national and state level - In ensuring constant interaction with the DRC project teams, units and departments - In strengthening liaison efforts with Area and Base Managers in field bases locations - To ensure that visas, residence permits, Travel Permits and other related entry-requirements are obtained for international staff - To facilitate staff internal travel by submitting of Travel permit copies to needed authorities prior to departure dates - To update the DRC international staff visa tracker on a daily basis - To process all the needed documents regarding visas, work permits and travel permits as and when needed - Keep senior management informed of any changes in the administrative procedures for obtaining key documents - Maintain and develop day-to-day contacts with key authorities and ensure the prompt sharing of information, conclusions or messages - Support the Liaison Coordinator with the drafting of monthly reporting and analysis of DRC relationships and coordination efforts on Khartoum level

Required

• At least 1 year experience in a similar role, preferably working for an INGO • Diploma or equivalent professional qualification • Proven ability to write in a clear and concise manner and to communicate effectively, including the ability to prepare reports and presentation in both English and Arabic • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment • Strong communication skills and the ability to establish networks with key Government stakeholders in Sudan • Proven experience interacting with HAC and other government entities in Sudan • Must demonstrate strong interpersonal, speaking, and writing skills • Proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines; • Stable, moral and robust character and a good team-player

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment.
