JOB PURPOSE

The incumbent will be a learning and development specialist who will contribute to WFP’s ongoing learning transformation. This role will support a broad range of learning and development activities and interventions which are managed by the team, such as the identification of learning needs across our country offices and functional areas and the design and development of functional learning paths and curricula to continue to build a wide range of technical skills and cross-cutting skills in the organization. Other initiatives include supporting broadly career management and talent related projects and encouraging the sharing of best practices through the internal community of practice network in the area.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES ( (not all-inclusive)

  • Support the provision of learning solutions to internal clients (business functions and Country Offices (COs)) according to the latest learning and development trends and standard methodologies;
  • Assist with the identification and development of appropriate design and delivery mechanisms to meet the needs of target audience;
  • Provide support to the development of learning needs analysis, and formulation of learning strategies;
  • Own the development of a wide-range of learning solutions (online and blended), related to both internal functional learning and cross-functional skills;
  • Design and deliver training interventions and sessions, both face-to-face and remotely as needed;
  • Provide input to demonstrate the use of online content development tools (e.g. Articulate Storyline/360, Rise, Captivate, Camtasia, standard animation software etc.);
  • Assist with the effective operation of a community of practice amongst learning focal points to share tools, methods, and approaches for learning and development and enable effective knowledge management;
  • Support the monitoring and analysis of learning and development data, with a view to identify trends and potential opportunities, and proposing eventual solutions;
  • Assist with other career management related initiatives such as developing and identifying materials to support career development, contributing to different campaigns and efforts in this area;
  • As required, support other talent management and capability development initiatives and projects.​​​

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Advanced university degree in Social Sciences, Human Resource Management, Learning and Development, Psychology or other relevant field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience or trainings/courses.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in learning and development.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Proven experience in the area of learning and development.
  • Broad or specialized knowledge of HR and learning and development best practices, techniques and processes with some understanding of the basic theoretical background.
  • Ability to work effectively with and keep up to date on learning and development technology.
  • Understanding and experience of developing blended learning solutions
  • Experience in managing and delivering learning solutions through a Learning Management System (LMS) and/or Learning Experience Platforms (LXP)
  • Flexibility and initiative, and ability to deliver high quality results often under tight timeframes.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills required to present and facilitate sessions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with clients and provide client oriented service. Ability to identify client’s needs and match them to appropriate solutions.

Language: Proficiency (level C) in English language and intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, and/or WFP’s working language, Portuguese.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The selected candidate will be employed on a fixed-term as well as a rotational contract with a probationary period of one year.
