Duties and Responsibilities Organizational setting:

The United Nations Resident Coordinator Office (UNRCO) in Tunisia is seeking qualified candidates for the recruitment of a language teacher in Arabic to conduct and administer Arabic classes for the international staff members of RCO. The consultant should report to the Head of RCO who will evaluate the outputs and certified the accomplishment of learning sessions based on the contract terms. This assignment does not carry any entitlement to social benefits such as medical insurance, pension, sick leave, etc.

Responsibilities The Language Teacher is responsible for the followings: - Plan and prepare course work in advance for each 90 - 120 minutes session and lead scheduled in-class learning. - Develop a learning plan/calendar per session and content - Conduct in-class activities using instructional methods that serve to enhance participants’ ability to learn. - Revise and update instructional material to enable the participants to understand the texts, to communicate and discuss easily and clearly - Consult with participants as required to promote and sustain their interest in the course and content; seek clarification on areas of difficulty and working with them to overcome these - Conduct learning assessments (spoken and written proficiency) and use the results to improve teaching and learning for the participants/learners. - Provide a report to the Head of RCO at the end of each term of payment for each class taught, including the number of participants, pattern of absences, details on overall learning performance and provide feedback to learners of their progress and ways to develop their linguistic skills

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: University degree in Arabic language is required Experience: - 10 years of experience successfully teaching in private and public schools and training adults in language communications skills as a second or foreign language is required. Language: Fluency in oral and written French and Arabic is required.
