BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

To support this, the HR Career Management Branch (HRMTC) plays a key role given its mandate of being responsible for performance management, employee engagement, learning and development, career management and development, and WFP’s internal promotion system.

To support the Branch in achieving its goals, we are currently seeking to fill a junior consultancy vacancy, for a period of six months. The position will be initially home-based, with potential to be based in Rome from late 2022.

ACCOUNTABITLITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

In an effort to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and engagement of WFP’s workforce, the junior consultant will:

  1. Support the overall management of the Performance Management systems, including rollout of new features and maintenance.

  2. Contribute to the customer service offered to all WFP employees and managers on performance management, both for IT and process-related queries.

  3. Contribute to the design and implementation of initiatives that measure and sustain levels of employee engagement

  4. Conduct data analysis and prepare accurate and timely reporting on activities done within the Branch, providing relevant insights.

  5. Assist in project management activities, including organization of webinars, correspondence with external vendors and liaising with the HR IT team.

  6. Work with other colleagues in the Branch to improve existing resources, and to identify needs for and develop new resources.

  7. Contribute to the development of effective and innovative communication and training activities and materials, to maintain high engagement on the Branch initiatives.

  8. Contribute to additional initiatives and/or campaigns managed by the Branch or HR Division.

  9. Other duties, as required.

DELIVERABLES QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Effective contribution to the Branch new initiatives and management of the existing processes / systems.
  • High-quality and timely customer service offered.
  • Participation in communication and training campaigns, and initiatives.
  • High-quality and timely documentation / material produced.
  • Professional and proactive engagement in different areas of the Branch.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Education:

  • University degree in HR, Business Administration, Social Sciences, International Relations, or related studies.

Experience:

  • Experience in performance management, data management and reporting, employee engagement and/or other related areas
  • Experience in customer support

  • Previous WFP or UN experience

  • Work in multi-cultural teams and organizations

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Initiative, sound judgment and demonstrated ability to collaborate harmoniously with colleagues of different national and cultural backgrounds
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills

  • Customer service skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office with excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • PowerPoint design and data visualization skills desirable

Languages:

  • Excellent command of English (level C) in oral and written English is essential
  • Other UN languages, in particular French and/or Spanish, are an asset
