The IRC Finance Team seeks to achieve excellence in financial management by providing accurate and timely financial information to IRC management and programs, by adhering to established financial practices and accounting principles, and by ensuring functional financial systems to support the operations.

Job Overview / Summary:

Within our New York headquarters, the IRC operates an International Organization for Migration (IOM) loan processing unit. IOM issues transportation loans to refugees and IRC collects the loans on behalf of IOM for the refugees it resettles.

The IOM Loan Specialist is responsible to handle daily and monthly activities by establishing and maintaining close communications with our clients. This includes, and not limited to, providing basic financial literacy on loan repayments, and ensuring up-to-date clients’ payments and records information is upheld while adhering to set policies and procedures.

Major Responsibilities:

- Perform end-of-day and end-of-month reconciliation reports - Execute billing tasks utilizing accounting software/applications - Interact and provide solutions to client inquiries regarding billing, payment arrangements, deferments, cancellations, and credit reporting history - Monitor and prevent high-risk transfers from clients’ non-repayments by calling out monthly collection calls lists - Review client financial documentation for completeness and accuracy - Process debit card transactions and/or ACH payment entries - Serve to support as back-up for lockbox processing - Prepare bank deposits - Identify incorrect posting entries for adjustments as needed - Update addresses from incoming/outbound calls, letter correspondences, payments received via US Post Office, Regional Offices, Experian, and other sources - Perform system maintenance on “red” flag changes from monthly statements returns and properly conduct address search investigations - Assist in production of monthly merge letters and distribution of monthly statements - Manage filing and general tasks as assigned

Job Requirements:

· Education: Bachelor’s degree preferable

· *Work Experience*****: 2+ years of experience in similar area of expertise

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

· Excellent interpersonal skills: the ability to communicate with refugee clients effectively and diplomatically.

· Solid organizational skills: the ability to be flexible and efficient in a fast-paced multi-task environment.

· Flexible work demeanor: the ability to work productively in a team environment & independently and ability to meet unexpected demands.

· Good digital literacy: facility with MS Word, Excel, Access, and email/internet software.

· Language proficiency: the ability to speak in English, Arabic, Burmese, Farsi, Nepali, Somali, and/or Swahili is a plus+.

Working Environment:

· The position will be based in NY-HQ

· Hybrid (in-office and remote work environment)
