Do you want to experience what it is like to work for Denmark’s largest humanitarian NGO? Then apply for the DRC Safety Team’s full-time intern position for spring 2022.

Who we are

DRC Safety unit is responsible for DRC’s global safety set up and trainings. The team currently consists of 4 HQ staff, 2 roving staff with an additional global set-up of over 25 Regional and Country Safety Advisors. In extension we maintain a safety roster with members from across the world ready to be deployed to DRC programs or partner projects.

We provide a range of opportunities and support for external companies and other organizations to implement safety procedures on both a strategic organizational level and through training in personal safety for employees. The training courses include a broad range of modules and services from practical training of staff who visit or live abroad through their profession - to assistance on strategic Risk Management and Safety Management set-up. In addition, we are a part of leading the Danish Interagency Safety Network (DISN), consisting of over 30 large and small Danish NGOs.

About the internship

The intern will become part of the Safety Team and will assist a supervisor in the daily work. The duties and tasks will consist of mainly administrative and practical tasks related to safety trainings and will include, but not be limited to:

  • Support in participant management for safety trainings
  • Support in administrative tasks for hired consultants including contract preparation and travel arrangements
  • Support in payment management
  • Ad hoc administrative tasks, i.e. filling forms for invoices, creating certificates for training participants etc.
  • Ad hoc practical tasks, meeting support etc.

As an intern at the DRC Safety Team, we expect you to

  • Commit to the values and Code of Conduct of the Danish Refugee Council
  • Have an interest in and flair for administrative tasks incl. financial management
  • Be proactive and flexible towards the different tasks assigned to you
  • Be able to work as part of a team

Your qualifications

Your field of study is not paramount, but it will most likely be within the social sciences and/or international affairs. To apply for the internship, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled at a university
  • Have completed a minimum of one year of higher education
  • Be based in Denmark
  • Be fluent in spoken and written English
  • Be effective in the use of MS Office;
  • Have good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Be able to work independently as well as in a team
  • Be able to work systematically with the tasks that you are responsible for
  • Have an eye for detail and strive to get the job done

Conditions

  • Contract length: 4-5 months
  • Start date 24 January 2022 (or as per agreed)
  • Work place: Copenhagen, Denmark
  • Expected working hours: 32 hours per week
  • The internship is unpaid (lunch scheme is provided)
