Salary

The salary for this job should be between 171,387 USD and 220,969 USD.

Note: Programme Group (PG) is currently undergoing organizational changes, therefore the exact location of the post is still under consideration. Currently, the post is based in New York but in case the location of the post will change, s/he would be expected to work remotely as the case may be, during the contractual period.

Under the guidance of the Director, Nutrition, and direct supervision of the Senior Adviser, Nutrition, you will contribute to UNICEF’s global thought and knowledge leadership and strategic, global partnerships for Nutrition with UNICEF HQ-New York. You will work within the Knowledge, Advocacy and Partnerships Unit in close collaboration with other unit heads and teams across the Nutrition Section. You will work collaboratively to strengthen UNICEF’s engagement in global strategic partnerships for Nutrition. The position may involve moderate travel.

How can you make a difference?

Under the direct supervision of the Senior Adviser, Nutrition, the incumbent will contribute to strategic knowledge generation and management and global partnerships to scale up nutrition for children, adolescents and women in development and humanitarian contexts.

1. Strategic knowledge management for Nutrition

• Strengthen UNICEF’s thought leadership for maternal and child nutrition in support to the UNICEF Nutrition Strategy 2020-2030
• Strengthen UNICEF’s knowledge leadership for maternal and child nutrition and manage the Nutrition Section’s knowledge management portfolio
• Ensure strategic leadership for UNICEF’s flagship nutrition reports -- including UNICEF’s Child Nutrition Report -- and peer-review publications.

2. Strategic support to global partnerships for Nutrition

• Act as focal lead for strategic, global nutrition partnerships including those with the Government of the Netherlands, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Power of Nutrition, and the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation.
• Prepare high-quality proposals and donor reports as part of strategic support to cross-cutting nutrition partnerships.
• Support the Director, Nutrition with technical review/quality assurance of documents and briefing notes to support high-level engagement with strategic partners.

3. Communication and advocacy for Nutrition

• Contribute to development of communications and advocacy products to enhance UNICEF’s influence on policies, programmes, strategies and budgets.
• Work closely with UNICEF colleagues to ensure that nutrition advocacy and outreach are strongly grounded in the experience of UNICEF supported nutrition programmes.
• Contribute to the development of communication and advocacy initiatives for high-level outreach, including for UNICEF’s Director for Nutrition and Senior Management.

To qualify as a champion for every child, the candidate must have…

• An advanced university degree in Public Health Nutrition.
• A minimum of eight years of relevant experience in Public Health Nutrition in low- and middle-income countries.
• A proven track record in strategic knowledge and partnerships management in the field of Public Health Nutrition including involvement in global publications and peer-review journals
• Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
