Org. Setting and Reporting The internship positions are located in the Spanish Translation Service, Documentation Division, Department for General Assembly and Conference Management (DGACM) in New York. These internships are UNPAID and full-time, for a duration of two (2) months ideally from 6 July to 10 September 2021, with a possibility of extension, subject to the needs of the Department. Interns work remotely five days per week (35 hours) under the general supervision of the Chief of the Spanish Translation Service.

Responsibilities Interns will be responsible for the following duties: (a) translating into Spanish, which must be the candidates' main language, documents from one or more of the other official languages of the United Nations for training and other purposes and subject to revision. The official languages are: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish; (b) performing other related duties as required, including terminological work.

Education To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (1) Be enrolled in, or have completed within the last two years, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (2) Be enrolled in, or have completed within the last two years, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent);

Interested candidates must be pursuing or have pursued their degree in areas related to this Temporary Job Opening.

In addition, interested candidates must: - Be computer literate in standard software applications including MS Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point); - Have full access to a computer with a modern browser in which to run the latest version of Office 365 applications - Be familiar with computer-assisted translation and terminology management tools

Work Experience No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship. Experience using computer-assisted translation and terminology management tools is desirable.

Languages Applicants must have a perfect command of Spanish, which should be their main language (the main language should be understood to be the language in which the candidate is best able to work and of which he/she has a perfect command).

Applicants must also have an excellent knowledge of English. Knowledge of another United Nations official language (Arabic, Chinese, French or Russian) is desirable.

Assessment Candidates will be assessed based on their Personal History Profiles (PHP). Individual interviews and/or tests may be conducted for further assessment.

Candidates who have committed crimes other than minor traffic offences may not be considered for employment.
