Org. Setting and Reporting The internship is within the Business Transformation and Change Management Unit, Division for Management, United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The internship is for a period of six months, starting in June 2021.

The team is currently responsible for the roll out, implementation and reporting on the UNOV/UNODC Innovation Strategy 2021-25 as well as various organizational and change management initiatives. The internship is UNPAID and full-time.

Interns work five days per week (40 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.

In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, applicants may be requested to undertake the internship remotely in view of constraints regarding visa issuance, international travel and access to UN premises. Applicants must be willing and prepared to undertake the internship remotely for a part or the entirety of the internship.

Responsibilities The intern shall undertake the following duties which may include, but are not limited to: •Support the development and implementation of activities related to the UNOV/UNODC Innovation Strategy, especially as related to creating an enabling culture for innovation •Research, summarize and share information with staff-at-large about relevant innovation and new technology initiatives as relevant to UNODC and UNOV through the Innovation Forum •Support collection of examples of innovation for reporting back on progress towards the Innovation Strategy and communication efforts within UNOV/UNODC and UN System •Manage the Innovation Hub and Innovation Forum, collecting and sharing information and resources of interest to staff. •Liaise with other team members and perform other duties as required.

Education To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:

•Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). (OFFICIAL WRITTEN PROOF FROM THE UNIVERSITY SUPPORTING ONE OF THE ABOVE POSSIBILITIES MUST BE ATTACHED TO THE INSPIRA APPLICATION);

•Be computer literate in standard software applications;

•Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and

•Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. Fluency in English, i.e. oral and written proficiency is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
