Org. Setting and Reporting The position is located in the Integrated Training Service in the Policy, Evaluation and Training Division in the Department of Peace Operations at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

Department of Peace Operations was established to provides political and executive direction to UN peacekeeping operations around the world and maintains contact with the Security Council, troop and financial contributors, and parties to the conflict in the implementation of Security Council mandates.

Policy, Evaluation and Training Division is mandated to develop and disseminate the policy and doctrine guiding the work of peacekeeping, including through the design, development and delivery of training. In addition, at the request of the Heads of Departments, PETD evaluates how the policies are applied, gathers lessons learned as well as best practices, in order to use the information as a guide in the development, coordination and delivery of standardized training, thereby completing the learning cycle. PETD is also responsible for developing and maintaining strategic cooperation with various UN and external partners in this regard.

ITS specifically supports the mandate of PETD through the design, development and delivery of training.

The Intern reports to the Training Officer of the Training Policy Standards Team in the Integrated Training Service.

This internship is for an initial period of two months and may be extended up to six months depending on the needs of the Division.

The internship is UNPAID and full-time.

Responsibilities Our interns work as members of our team in the Training Policy Standards Team.

The core responsibility of this internship will include assistance in converting Training of Trainers (ToT) course materials, originally designed for in-person delivery, for online course format, preferably using the Articulate Storyline software.

Related responsibilities may entail: 1. Assistance in converting all ToT materials into online course format: pre- and post-tests, learning activities, learning content and online submission of individual learning assignments 2. Assistance in selecting and designing appropriate animation, narration and other design aspects suited for the target audience 3. Assistance in uploading and testing the online ToT course in the Learning Management System

Education High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Work Experience No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.

Experience working on online learning management systems (LMS) and SCORM packages; developing websites and online surveys; and designing e-learning courses. This could be an experience/ skill gained during college study assignments or master's thesis work. If short-listed, please be prepared to submit e-learning design work samples.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position(s) advertised, fluency in spoken and written English is required; and knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of another official United Nations language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian and Spanish) is an advantage.

Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
