Org. Setting and Reporting These positions are located in the Office of Supply Chain Management (OSCM) in the Department of Operational Support (DOS).

The Department of Operational Support was established to provide end-to-end operational support, advisory services and other solutions to operating entities across the United Nations Secretariat, including other departments, offices away-from UN headquarters, UN field missions, and UN regional commissions.

The Office of Supply Chain Management includes the Office of the Assistant Secretary-General for Supply Chain Management, Logistics Division, the Procurement Division, the Uniformed Capabilities Support Division, Umoja Coordination Service, Global Service Centre, Aviation Safety Section and the Enabling and Outreach Service.

OSCM is committed to building efficient, agile, responsive, accountable, end-to-end uniformed capabilities and supply chain solutions for all our global partners and clients. Supply Chain Management covers a wide scope of services including supply chain planning and performance management, logistical support, procurement, vendor management and supplier diversity, aviation safety, and uniformed capabilities support. In addition to operational services and support, OSCM also provides advisory services and guidance to nearly 100 client entities globally, as well as to troop and police contributing countries (T/PCCs).

The incumbent will report to the relevant Supervisor.

Responsibilities Our interns work as full members of our team, pursue projects that are designed to make a significant difference in OSCM, and have opportunities to learn about the United Nations overall.

OSCM offers internship opportunities in Communications and Graphic Design

We are looking for applicants with good writing skills, some experience with graphic design using the Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., InDesign, Illustrator) and/or experience in designing websites.

  • Design visual products in line with DOS visual identity, to support various communications efforts.
  • Design core identity products that illustrate corporate vision, mission, and values
  • Develops (designs and prepares) content for corporate briefings, presentations, fact sheets, snapshots etc.
  • Develops communications products for different client segments supported by the OSCM and Divisions.
  • Design and prepare target communications for the different client segments supported by the Office of Supply Chain Management
  • Supports the development of various SharePoint pages and sites, including layout and content and content architecture
  • Works with the different teams within the OSCM and various Divisions to collect and tailor contents for various communications platforms and ensure timely update of information.
  • Provides design support across a range of print and digital products.
  • Provides primary support on matters relating to Communication for the Office of the Supply Chain Management.

Education To qualify for an internship with the UN, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent); or (c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above).

We are open to a broad range of educational and professional backgrounds. Typically, our interns in communication are pursuing studies and experiences in the following domain:

Communications and Design: We seek candidates with relevant coursework in Design, Web Development, Strategic Design and Management, Marketing, Information Design, Public Relations, Media Studies, Journalism, Data Visualization, Bachelor/Masters (or equivalent) in Business, Marketing, Art, Engineering or any other field preferably relevant to the work of the Supply Chain Management.

Work Experience No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position(s) advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
