Org. Setting and Reporting This position is located in the Office of the Director in the UN Division of Healthcare Management and Occupational Safety and Health (DHMOSH), Office of Support Operations (OSO), Department of Operational Support (DOS).

The Department of Operational Support (DOS) was established to provide end-to-end operational support, advisory services and other solutions to operating entities across the Secretariat, including departments, offices away from headquarters, peace operations, and regional commissions.

The Division of Healthcare Management and Occupational Safety and Health (DHMOSH) provides services to Secretariat entities as well as to New York-based Agencies, Funds, and Programmes (AFP). The services include medical entitlement administration, occupational safety and health, medical workforce management, clinical governance, UN System Medical Emergency Response Strategy, patient safety and public health. In addition, the Secretariat's counselling services are located within DHMOSH.

The internship is UNPAID and can be part-time or full-time (four to five days per week), for a minimum duration of three (3) months and can be extended up to six (6) months. Please note that this internship can be fully remote.

Interns can be either part-time (20h/week) or full-time (35h/week) depending on your status. Interns work four to five days per week under the supervision of a staff member in DHMOSH.

Responsibilities Under the overall supervision of the Medical Director, the incumbent may have responsibilities which include, but are not limited to: - Assist in the development of health-related projects for the Division of Healthcare Management and Occupational Safety and Health (DHMOSH). - Medical and/or Public Health background is desirable. - An orientation in statistical data analytics is desirable. - Assist in IT-related projects including preparing and analyzing health-related data from online surveys. - Contribute to the monitoring of latest health policy developments relevant for DHMOSH. - Provide assistance in preparing official documents; whilst ensuring grammar, content and formatting are accurate. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint Outlook) - Perform other duties as requested by supervisor

Education We are looking for applicants who will demonstrate their intention to study further or work in a field relevant to the work of DHMOSH.

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: a) Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent or higher);

b) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a university degree programme (Bachelor's level or equivalent); or

c) Have graduated with a university degree (secondary or first level);

d) Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and

e) Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Work Experience No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional UN language is an asset. This includes: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
