BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

The Strategic Planning and Coordination unit, under the CAM division of WFP is focusing on four key priorities for the year – namely - Strategic Resource Management & Capacity Building; Strategy Development; CAM Task Force & Global Project; and Monitoring & Evaluation. Through these focus areas, the unit aims to optimize the outcomes and enable the division to work strategically and effectively towards achieving the organizational mission.

To this purpose, CAM is looking into enhancing internal skills and capabilities of communications, advocacy, and marketing, through a comprehensive learning and development programme. This includes the development of a CAM WeLearn Channel that will include relevant learning paths to provide our staff with the right expertise and skills.

ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the general supervision and guidance of the Strategic Planning and Coordination Unit, the instructional designer will support a broad range of learning and development activities and interventions such as the development of functional learning paths and curricula to continue to build a wide range of technical and cross-cutting skills within the organization. This will focus on the CAM workforce, but also on the wider communications functional area.

The incumbent will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Researching of appropriate learning resources globally on relevant communications, advocacy and marketing related topics/skills and capabilities with the intention to create linkages and leverage to reduce duplication of effort and maximize access, availability, and utilization.

  • Design of specialized learning paths and e-learning solutions; with a focus on proposing improved quality of learning. This includes effective collaboration with Subject matter experts on the design of solutions to ensure high levels of engagement and knowledge transfers.

  • Work with online content development tools (e.g. Articulate Storyline/360, Rise, Captivate, Camtasia, WeLearn (WFP internal learning platform) standard animation software etc.) to develop learning solutions as required.

  • Guarantee that all learning solutions maintain of the highest quality possible and reach the required audience addressing the intended learning gaps.

  • And any other relevant learning and development duties assigned to you.

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:

Finalized learning paths within the CAM WeLearn channel, with the inclusion of learning solutions according to the latest learning and development trends and standard methodologies.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Education:

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Human Resource Management, Learning and Development, Psychology, Communication, Marketing or other relevant field.

Experience (essentials):

At least 3 years of postgraduate professional experience in Learning and Development.

Competencies:

  • Extensive knowledge of instructional design theory, learning principles and state of the art learning techniques and tools
  • Prior experience in developing e-learning, training, or capacity building
  • Proven track record of experience working on complex projects/ programmes in large organizations with decentralized workforces
  • Understand technical subject areas and work effectively with subject matter experts to transfer technical content into learning outcomes required
  • Experience in learning, workforce development, and capacity development
  • Experience in web-content design and using e-learning authoring tools such as Adobe Captivate, Articulate, or Cross Knowledge
  • Self-motivated and able to work with a high degree of autonomy, while willing to receive constructive feedback
  • Ability to channel communication between groups and inspire teams to produce together

Language:

Excellent written and oral knowledge of English.
