Job Description

Background/IRC Summary:

The Syria crisis is often described as the worst humanitarian catastrophe since the end of the Cold War. Today, 13.4 million people in Syria - more than half of the country's population - are in need of humanitarian assistance with needs increasingly being exacerbated by economic decline. Of these, 6.8 million are refugees and asylum-seekers who have fled the country. This is no short-term humanitarian episode. The devastating human consequences to huge numbers of people will endure for decades. The destruction of relationships, communities, livelihoods, homes and infrastructure will take years to repair.

IRC is offering a robust humanitarian response to the Syria crisis a rapidly expanding portfolio, supported by more than 1000+ staff in Syria Country Program. IRC is undertaking programs in Syria and the neighboring countries of Turkey, Iraq, Lebanon and Jordan in the fields of health, child protection, early childhood development, education, women’s protection and empowerment, non-food items and food distribution, cash assistance, water and sanitation, protection and rule of law, and livelihood programming. Our work in these challenging settings gives rise to some of the most pressing issues facing contemporary humanitarian action, including questions of access, security, funding and coordination.

Job Overview/Summary:

The Information Management Officer is intended to analyze, document and develop Information Management system for Child Protection sector. The incumbent is expected to assist IRC and UNICEF Child Protection Sector in collection, analyzing and publishing information products under the project. This work will entail establishing templates, ensuring agreed-upon standards and branding, and ensure the accuracy of all spatial and non-spatial products, and subsequent analysis, is of the highest standard.

Responsibilities:

- Support IM function for Humanitarian Needs Overview (HNO)/ Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) - Support the planning and strategy development for Child Protection Information Management system and informing the response strategies/action plans. - Develop Information Management Strategies and Protocols for the Child Protection Sector and partners. - Apply CP AOR Standard Best Practices to identify the shortcomings of these processes and suggesting improvements. - Maintain regularly 4Ws of CP AoR sector and generate maps and graphs - Support CP AoR Coordinator in gap analysis and building the capacity of organizations in term of Information Management. - Liaise with other information managers to build information management relationships for gathering reliable data and using data collection tools at the field level. - Assist in the development of an Information Management project based on accepted international standards. - Develop data collection tools as requested by the partners or other members of the CP AoR. - Create infographics, maps, dashboards, reports and all related IM products as requested by the partners. - Monitor overall Child Protection project progress and identify strategies to respond to challenges and improve products to best meet the project objectives. - Build and maintain close working relationships with CP AoR partners - Identify training needs across CP Ao R and design courses and support the development of training curriculums and support with conducting training externally. - Assist and support the implementation of trainings, meetings, conferences, workshops and all IM activities planned CP AoR. - Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

- 2-3 years’ experience in information management - Previous experience working with cluster system is required - Microsoft Excel skills. - Experience with Mobile Data Collection tools. - Documentation skills. - Assessment Design skills. - Data Analysis skills. - Database Management skills - Bachelors Degree in Information Systems or equivalent field.
