The PFP Market Knowledge Unit provides insights and knowledge to UNICEF National Committees and fundraising country offices, as well as other units within PFP.

The PFP Marketing and PR services for Fundraising Section provides UNICEF National Committees and fundraising country offices with guidance and technical support for their public outreach efforts, including individual donations, corporate engagement, and brand and communications. This involves providing market research services covering opinion surveys and market measurements.

How can you make a difference?

This individual contractor is being established to increase the Market Knowledge unit’s capacity to provide reporting, prepare supporting documentation and research summaries for an increasing number of markets and new projects. Five main areas have been identified:

1. Income Analysis and Benchmarking: identify growth opportunities by supporting the Peer Review, one of the MKU flagship products by producing 50 customized individual country reports where UNICEF fundraises.

2. Competitive Analysis: inspire PFP colleagues by spotting and tracking competitors’ successful campaigns or activities.

3. Partnerships: maximize the current partners (High value Channels) donation by identifying shared values and sweet spots for further partnership.

4. Sports partnerships: identify best prospects on thematic level with financial and non-financial support from the football sector and sports at large.

5. Tools and database: production of the Power BI dashboards and reports for the new Peer Review to allow MKU to produce the country Peer Review.

MAIN TASKS

In close coordination with the Market Intelligence Manager five key primary tasks:

  1. Produce Country Market Peer Review reports for 50+ markets for National Committees and fundraising Country Offices to help them learn from best in class in fundraising. The Peer Review looks at competitors’ income results by income streams and markets.

  2. Produce the Inter and the Intra Peer Review reports (2023) for Best in Class and Bright spots identification in main fundraising income streams.

  3. Support the MKU team by providing examples from competitors.

  4. Produce the Power BI dashboards and reports for the Peer Review.

  5. Produce a football clubs mapping and scoring model for the Corporate Team and some national Committees in phase 1. In phase 2, extend the model to sports in general.

  6. Depending on workloads and specific needs, ad-hoc tasks may be undertaken also, in coordination with the relevant Market Knowledge staff members.

DELIVERABLES

High quality, accurate and timely project management, reports, summaries and insights for all studies. Specifically:

  1. January-February 2023: Inter and the Intra Peer Review reports to identity Best-in-Class and Bright Spots (in UNICEF) with 2021 data and Mid-Year dataset (half 2022).

  2. February 2023: design of the SharePoint page for MKU to add the Corporate Trends in close collaboration with the MKU Assistant.

  3. May-July 2023: Contribute to the Global Peer Review reports by preparing the charts from PowerBI.

  4. June-July 2023: Top key market Peer Review reports (15 markets) for Mid-Year Review with the market development Team.

  5. July-September 2023: Remaining market Peer Review reports (35 countries) for the markets and PFP.

  6. September 2023: March 2023: in close collaboration with colleagues in MKU, issue a report on corporate trends and trends in the sport industry to deliver to High Value Channels (HVC).

  7. September 2023-October 2023: Inter and the Intra Peer Review reports to identity Best-in-Class and Bright Spots (in UNICEF) with 2022 data.

  8. At the end of each quarter (31/3/23, 30/6/23, 30/9/23): compilation of examples from the competitors in key areas (with focus on health, education, climate).

ESTIMATED DURATION OF THE CONTRACT AND PROPOSAL

Duration: 11.5 months, Full-time, tentatively starting in December 2022.

REPORTING TO

The incumbent will report to the Market Intelligence Manager of the Market Knowledge Unit, who will provide overall direction and guidance.

Office based in the Geneva office.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education:

  • First level university degree (Bachelor or higher), in marketing or Business administration, or another relevant field is required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional work experience in marketing and data analysis with Excel and Power BI in Market Research areas, or other related fields.
  • Prior experience in market research or monitoring for a non-profit organization is highly desirable.
  • Strong experience in data analysis and turning data into insights (Market Insights).
  • Strong command of Excel and Power BI, (Market Measurements).
  • Experience in building dashboards with business intelligence tools is a plus.
  • Experience in the area of partnerships and sponsorship is desirable.
  • Some experience in desk research, monitoring companies/organisations’ best practices by industry sector (Market Intelligence).
  • Experience working in an international environment is a plus.

    Language:

  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of an additional UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is an asset
