Founded in September 2018, Generation Unlimited (GenU) is a multi-sector partnership that aims to transform education, employment and entrepreneurial outcomes for young people around the world at a global and local level, by joining together partners from business and governments with the reach and network of the United Nations. GenU’s vision is to make sure all young people have the ability and opportunity to realize their potential.

The partnership brings together diverse stakeholders connecting stakeholders from the private sector, government, multilateral organizations, civil society and young people – all working together for greater impact. GenU puts young people at the heart of everything and involve them in the co-creation the overall programmatic agenda, its ongoing governance and implementation. Young people are part of the GenU Board, and a Young People’s Action Team (YPAT) acts as a sounding board. GenU has an ambitious agenda to delivering at scale through the identification and development young people-focused solutions, innovations and mobilization of finances.

GenU will be focusing on fundraising for existing programmes/solutions and will engage new partners to cocreate new solutions and secure funding. To be successful programmes will need to be packaged into compelling “signature products” for funders. Through stellar messaging for funding and investment GenU will need to articulate a clear investment case for catalytic funding.

This is a purpose-driven assignment that requires the ability to expertly craft customized presentation and pitch to a diverse audience. Attracting more public and private sector funding will be instrumental for GenU to deliver on its promise to young people globally. Understanding the complexity of fundraising the role of the pitch writer and designer will be critical through the articulation of compelling and interesting stories of GenU’s work locally and globally.

EXPECTED RESULTS

Under the direct supervision of the Senior Adviser, Partnerships and Resources Mobilization, and in collaboration with UNICEF and GenU partners, the consultant will expertly craft customized presentation and pitch to a diverse audience. Attracting more public and private sector funding will be instrumental for GenU to deliver on its promise to young people globally. Understanding the complexity of fundraising the role of the pitch writer and designer will be critical through the articulation of compelling and interesting stories of GenU’s work locally and globally.

DESCRIPTION OF THE ASSIGNMENT

The consultant will be responsible to:

  • Develop compelling pitch decks on GenU ‘products’ for public and private sector based on the GenU’s value proposition
  • Ensure that every prerequisite of the pitch deck is attained and suitable to its target audience
  • Customize messaging in a compelling manner to the target audience and suitable to diverse audiences as well
  • Improve existing PowerPoint Presentations as necessary
  • Design and edit expert level power point presentations custom designed from scratch as necessary
  • Develop new templates custom designed from scratch for specific audiences

REPORTING REQUIREMENTS

Standard UNICEF Performance Evaluations will be conducted every 6 months and/or at end of contract. The performance indicators for evaluation of results will be the quality and timeliness of outputs delivered by consultant.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Arts, literature and writing, Business Administration or Management
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience creating pitch decks with an extensive portfolio of previous work
  • Excellent writing, communication, organization, and time management skills as well as strong attention to detail
  • Fluency in English is required, strong written and verbal competency is necessary

DUTY STATION

Home based - Remote

PAYMENT METHODOLOGY

Monthly Payment, based on monthly tasks and progress reports, approved upon monthly review with supervisor.

The proposed rate should be inclusive of all professional fees, daily allowances, living allowances, and other administrative costs.

HEALTH INSURANCE

At the time the contract is awarded, the selected candidate must have in place current health insurance coverage and the consultant must provide proof of health insurance. Consultants and individual contractors are fully responsible for arranging, at their own expense, such life, health and other forms of insurance covering the period of their services as they consider appropriate.

TRAVEL (IF APPLICABLE)

No travel is expected due to current COVID-19 restrictions. However, in case of these restrictions being lifted or unforeseen official business travel is required, the actual cost, including the visa fee, vaccination will be reimbursed in accordance with UNICEF Policy/procedure on official travel.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted and advance to the next stage of the selection process.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

GEN U is hosted by UNICEF. The Fund is administered under UNICEF’s financial, human resources and administrative rules and regulations, while operations are run by the Fund’s own independent governance structure that provides strategic guidance and oversight to its investments. GEN U’s day-to-day activities are carried out by a Secretariat under the direction of the Generation Unlimited, Director.

If selected for this consultancy, the resulting appointment will be limited to GEN U, a UNICEF hosted fund.
