Contract

This is a Consultancy contract. More about Consultancy contracts.

UNICEF works in some of the world’s toughest places, to reach the world’s most disadvantaged children. To save their lives. To defend their rights. To help them fulfill their potential.

Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day, to build a better world for everyone.

And we never give up.

For every child,

As a result of the ongoing war in Ukraine, Slovakia has hosted around 400,000 refugees, almost 40% of which were children. The impact of the war and subsequent displacement can be devastating for children. Unaccompanied and separated children are the most vulnerable of all children affected by emergencies. Having lost the care and protection of their families and caregivers put these children at increased risk of physical and psychological harm, trafficking, sexual abuse, and exploitation. Therefore, it is vital that Governments, child protection organizations and other protection actors work together to ensure that the most vulnerable children are protected.

As refugees they carry with them the stress and trauma of the environment they are fleeing from – escaping life-threatening situations, losing family members, a stressful journey. They are scared and vulnerable in their experience. Uncertainty of social security in a new country, uncertainty of a new legal status, living in poor conditions, lack of resources, food can also contribute to their stress. It is in this situation that it is important to emphasize the importance of Mental Health and Psycho Social Support (MPHSS) as a form of support, stabilization and help in the most difficult moment in which people coming from Ukraine found themselves.

Professionals working in the field of MHPSS have a lot of experience in crisis intervention, psychological first aid, or long-term therapy. However, given the unique situation brought by the emergency in Ukraine, UNICEF believes that they need to be supported through the provision of guidelines or Information, Communication and Education (ICE) materials.

UNICEF is seeking the assistance from a professional graphic designer who, under the overall guidance and direction of UNICEF Child Protection Specialist, and in close collaboration with other members of the child protection team, will design ICE materials, lay-outs, reports, fact-sheets, advocacy sheets, infographics and visibility materials related to MHPSS and psychological first aid.

All of the materials will be in compliance with UNICEF Style Guide and Branding Book. The copyrights of the products will belong to UNICEF. The designer will not be authorized to use or reproduce them anywhere else.

The consultant would be paid on a basis of the daily rate at the end of the contact. The consultant will have to deliver all materials in editable format and format ready for publication.

Scope of Work:

UNICEF will provide the consultant with the final text and pictures for each assignment (12 assignments).

After receiving from UNICEF the final text for the ICE material, the designer will provide design and layout services in accordance with UNICEF Graphic Standards and:

• Submit the preliminary layouts for discussion with UNICEF;

• Revise the selected layout as discussed with UNICEF;

• Design and layout of the ICE material;

• Submit the ICE to UNICEF for proofreading;

• Ensure all corrections have been inserted;

• Prepare the electronic files for the printing house;

• Prepare social media ready copies of all documents

The consultancy is for 60 days from the date of initial start of the contract with possibility of extension depending on the needs and situation. Given that this is a rapidly unfolding crisis and the situation is in flux, the Consultant and UNICEF team will remain flexible for a response to emerging needs.
