Organizational Setting

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is a technical knowledge-based organization. We advocate for the eradication of hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition; the elimination of poverty and the driving forward of economic and social progress for all; and, the sustainable management and utilization of natural resources, including land, water, air, climate and genetic resources for the benefit of present and future generations in the underdeveloped countries. The main aim of the FAO country offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to assist governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition at country level, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors, and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner.

Reporting Lines

Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Bangladesh and in close technical coordination with the Communication Specialist, the consultant will carry out tasks in accordance with FAO’s corporate graphics design and communication policy, editorial style and operational guidelines for all communication and information outputs. The main tasks of the consultant will be to :

Technical Focus

FAO Bangladesh has a high demand for a range of communication products that require professional graphic design. Products need to be to an FAO publication standard and follow official style guidelines.

Target audience for products:

International donors, Government of Bangladesh, other partners, FAO internal audience.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Design a range of communications products including, but not limited to, reports, brochures, infographics, posters, and invitation cards for events. • Submit draft versions for feedback and make necessary changes until approved by the Communications Specialist. • Make further edits as necessary until approved in FAO’s Publications Workflow System which ensures documents meet professional standards. • Submit a PDF version of the approved product as well as the design source fil, inclusive of links and fonts. • For each assignment, the number of expected days’ work will be agreed with the Communications Specialist prior to commencement, along with a timetable for delivery.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum five years of professional graphic design experience. • National of Bangladesh.

FAO communications policy and guidelines The incumbent shall familiarize him/herself with FAO’s corporate communication policy and operational guidelines to ensure mandatory coherence of all communication and information outputs.
