Key aspects of UNDP’s engagement include the establishment of a ‘Disability Focal Point Network’ within the organisation to bolster support to country offices, the hosting of a ‘peer learning’ workshop, the launch of a regional level programme on the intersection between disability inclusion and conflict, numerous guidance tools, including on disability mainstreaming, and the integration of persons with disabilities across the core streams within the RBAS Governance & Peacebuilding Team.

The assigned UN Volunteer will play a key role in supporting the team achieve these targets throughout 2022 and 2023. The assignment will include responsibility for delivering central aspects of the regional workplan on disability inclusion, such as the establishment of regional-level programming on persons with disability and conflict, creating guidance, providing technical support to implementing teams in country offices, and creating durable linkages and awareness with other streams within the Governance & Peacebuilding, such as conflict prevention, peacebuilding, prevention of violent extremism, rule of law, justice, and governance/SDG16.
