The Private Sector Fundraising and Partnerships (PSFP) section within Private Fundraising and Partnerships Division (PFP) works with National Committees and UNICEF country offices to maximize income and drive income growth. There are five teams within the PSFP section, including Global Philanthropy.

The purpose of the Global Philanthropy team is to drive income growth from major donors and family foundations. The team will lead the development of these new areas and will support countries to grow these income streams as well as develop relationships at a global level with high value individual supporters, family and private foundations.

How can you make a difference?

Main Tasks:

Support European priority markets, including, but not limited to Germany, Austria and Switzerland on strategy, prospecting and engagement (see below):

1. Strategy

  • Analysis of the UHNWI and foundation market related to philanthropic giving.
  • Support markets in developing a major donor strategy where this doesn’t exist.
  • Develop approaches and offers to reach UHNWIs and family foundations in different markets.
  • Supporting the major donor teams to ensure they are well set-up to work with UHNWIs.

2. Prospecting

  • Identify and research UHNWI individuals, families and family foundations with an expected inclination to support UNICEF.

3. Engagement

  • Engage prospective UHNWI and foundation partners able to give gifts (>$1million).
  • Introduce and promote Philanthropy to UNICEF board members and other senior leadership to ensure their support in contacting identified prospects and donors, resulting in the solicitations of high value gifts

Deliverables:

The incumbent will provide dedicated support to priority European markets, including Germany, Austria, and Switzerland on donor strategy, prospecting and engagement of UHNWI and family foundations, which should result in:

  • Significant increase in engagement with UHNWI/family foundations in the key markets with income increases after 12-18 months.
  • Prospect lists and donor strategies developed for top prospects in each of the markets.
  • Increased engagement from the leadership (board and staff) of the markets in engaging major donor prospects.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Advanced University degree in Business Management, Communication, Marketing, International Relations, Social Sciences or another relevant field is required.
  • Alternatively, a first level university degree in a relevant field combined with 7 years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant professional work experience in private sector fundraising is required.
  • Experience in cultivating high-value gifts (>$1million) is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity of UHNWI and foundations in European markets is highly desirable.
  • Practiced communicator with demonstrated ability to condense information and capture and communicate it in a well-structured way.
  • Experience working in a team is required.
  • Track record of working independently and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of the UN system, and familiarity with UNICEF programme activities are desirable.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of other European languages are desirable.
