This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Field Support Specialist or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Field Operations Associate will:

  • Carry out spot checks for the delivery of supplies and materials in the camps;
  • Prepare meeting minutes and action trackers for considered partners;
  • Carry out post distribution monitoring and provide adequate data analysis;
  • Follow up on planned donations and prepare a logistical allocation plan;
  • Support in liaising with government officials at the camp level to facilitate the entry of UNICEF contractors and visitors to the camps;
  • Support in monitoring and coordinate Incentive Based Volunteer (IBV) recruitments with relevant key partners and contractors;
  • Carry out regular facility assessments in the camps;
  • Document facility assets and their condition to carry out necessary maintenance and/or replacements;
  • Support in monitoring all projects with UNICEF partners and contractors in the camps for the following departments, Child protection, Social protection, Health, Education, Youth and WASH;
  • Identify bottlenecks, urgent needs and specific actions relevant to UNICEF interventions and its implementing partners and contractors’ mandate;
  • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications/Requirements

Required degree level:

Bachelor degree or equivalent

Education - Additional Comments:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area, e.g. Management or area related to Management, Business, Administration, Logistics and/or other related fields.

Required experience:

24 Months

Experience remark:

  • At least 2 years of professional work experience at the national and/or international level in administration, business, management and logistics or other relevant programmes; experience working in the UN or other international development organization;
  • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;
  • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing;

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;

  • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;
  • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment;
  • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
  • Sound security awareness;
  • Have affinity with or interest in volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.
