OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

The Department of Coordinated Resource Mobilization leads a globally coordinated resource mobilization network to foster strategic, consistent and coordinated resource mobilization sufficient to support WHO's General Programme of Work and its Programme Budget. In so doing it promotes the principles of (i) alignment of funding to WHO's Programme Budget, (ii) predictability and flexibility of funding, (iii) reducing the financial vulnerability of WHO through expansion of the donor base and (iv) continued enhancement of the transparency and reporting of WHO's funding and associated outcomes.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Under the leadership of the Unit Head, working closely with Coordinated Resource Mobilization team members, the External Relations Officer will: - Support the Coordinated Resource Mobilization team as assigned:

  • Plan and schedule internal meeting invitations, draft minutes of meetings, briefing notes, concept notes/proposals, and assist in any follow-up actions.
  • Develop and maintain updated and internal donor materials including profiles, engagement plans.
  • Support the implementation and roll-out of the Contributor Engagement Management system (CEM) including but not limited to uploading and mitigating relevant information on contributors, support the helpdesk for CEM.
  • Assist with the planning of bilateral meetings with contributors including preparing the financial analysis, background materials and power-point presentations specific to each contributor.
  • Assist with the development of advocacy, communication and visibility related material including visibility plans, tweets, a partner in health web pages etc in coordination with the Department of Communications (DCO).
  • Support analysis for financing campaigns - Perform other relevant duties as designated by the portfolio manager(s) and Head of Unit

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: A university degree in health or social sciences, or business or public administration Desirable: Advanced degree in international relations or related field

Experience

Essential: At least two years of combined national and international professional experience in the field of public health. Experience in organizing multi-stakeholders meetings and working with donors. Experience in working with multiple stakeholders. Experience in financial data analysis. Desirable: Experience in the WHO orUNsystem.

REMUNERATION

WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 48,805 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 3355 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
