**OVERVIEW** Parent Sector : Culture Sector (CLT) Duty Station: Paris Job Family: Culture Type of contract : Non Staff Duration of contract : From 1 to 6 months Recruitment open to : External candidates Application Deadline (Midnight Paris Time) : 6 Nov 2020 UNESCO Core Values: Commitment to the Organization, Integrity, Respect for Diversity, Professionalism **OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST** In the framework of the activities carried out by the World Heritage Centre of the Culture Sector and in preparation for the upcoming launch of the 3rd cycle of the Periodic Report for the Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) Region, the World Heritage Centre's Latin America and the Caribbean Unit (WHC/LAC) wishes to recruit a specialized expert in the field of World Heritage in Latin America and the Caribbean in order to support the implementation and follow-up of the Action Plan for the Latin America and the Caribbean Region (PARALC) and related activities. Long Description Work assignment 1. Pre-analysis of the questionnaire launched for the evaluation of the sub regional Action Plans (PAAS and PAC) with the aim of assessing their effective implementation in the Region of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). 2. Preparation of a strategy for the 3rd Cycle of Periodic Report to be launched by the LAC Region in 2021, including the updating of the database of all site managers and Focal Points. 3. Development of training and orientation modules for all relevant stakeholders involved in the 3rd Cycle of Periodic Report. 4. Elaboration of a general diagnosis on the Post-Covid situation of the World Heritage Sites comprised in the LAC Region 5. Proposal document for the official launching of the publication on *Qhapaq Ñan. Andean Road System*, and its dissemination material required for that purpose 6. Development of two extra-budgetary project proposals in line with the priorities outlined for the LAC Region, to be funded by the German and/or Japanese Funds in Trust. Long Description Deliverables and timeline 1. By 30 November 2020 at the latest, a progress report on the activities undertaken under this contract, including the pre-analysis of the questionnaire launched for the evaluation of the sub regional Action Plans (PAAS and PAC); 2. By 30 December 2020 at the latest, a progress report on the activities undertaken under this contract, including a draft proposal with the strategy for the 3rd Cycle of Periodic Report to be launched by the LAC Region in 2021, including the final document with the updating of the database of all site managers and Focal Points for LAC region; 3. By 30 January 2021 at the latest, a progress report on the activities undertaken under this contract, including presentation of a series of training and orientation modules for all relevant stakeholders involved in the 3rd Cycle of Periodic Report in LAC; 4. By 28 February 2021 at the latest, a progress report on the activities undertaken under this contract, including submission of a general diagnosis on the Post-Covid situation of the World Heritage Sites comprised in the LAC Region; 5. By 30 March 2021 at the latest, a progress report on the activities undertaken under this contract, including submission of a draft proposal document for the official launching of the publication on *Qhapaq Ñan. Andean Road System*, and its dissemination material required for that purpose 6. By 30 April 2021 at the latest, a final report on the activities undertaken under this contract, including two extra-budgetary project proposals in line with the priorities outlined for the LAC Region, to be funded by potential donors. Long Description Location and travel The Contractor will be on site at the Headquarters, and partially home-based (teleworking). No travels are required for this job. Fees The Contractor will receive a total lump sum of USD 15 000 in several installments upon the submission and approval of deliverables for the above-mentioned services. **COMPETENCIES (Core / Managerial)** Accountability (C) Communication (C) Innovation (C) Knowledge sharing and continuous improvement (C) Planning and organizing (C) Results focus (C) Teamwork (C) **-** For detailed information, please consult the [UNESCO Competency Framework](https://en.unesco.org/sites/default/files/competency_framework_e.pdf). **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** Education and experience **Education** Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Social or Human Sciences, with specialization in the field of cultural and/or natural heritage. **Work Experience** - Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience, of which preferably 1 year acquired at international level in the areas of cultural heritage management and conservation. - knowledge of the specificities of the Latin America and the Caribbean region, in particular on World Heritage - Experience within UNESCO is an asset - Proven ability in research and experience in academic institutions **SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES** - Excellent writing, communication, coordination and interpersonal skills - Strong IT skills, including with Microsoft Office software - Ability to maintain effective working relations within a multicultural environment - Excellent knowledge of the 1972 World Heritage Convention - Good knowledge of UNESCO rules, procedures, standard practices and programs in the Culture Sector - Knowledge of UNESCO management and administration systems - Excellent knowledge of Spanish and English (oral and written), and good proficiency in French. **APPLICATION PROCESS** Please note that all candidates must complete an on-line application and provide complete and accurate information.
