Overview

Assist in implementation of IOM Ukraine economic recovery activities.

You have:

  • High school degree with at least four years of relevant professional experience; or Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Economics or related fields from an accredited academic institution with at least 2 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in administrative and organizational work.
  • Experience in coordination of project activities.
  • Experience in working with migrants, displaced populations, veterans, and other vulnerable groups.
  • Experience of work in economic recovery, livelihoods, and/or technical and vocational education is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in English and Ukrainian (oral and written).
  • Strong coordination skills.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Contract

This is a G-4 contract. This kind of contract is known as General Service and related categories. It is normally only for nationals. It usually requires 4 years of experience, depending on education. More about G-4 contracts.

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) in Ukraine and direct supervision of the National Project Officer (SME Boost), the successful candidate will assist in implementation of IOM Ukraine economic recovery activities that focus, inter alia, on employment opportunities, Micro-, Small-, and Medium-Enterprises (MSMEs) support and diaspora engagement.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school degree with at least four years of relevant professional experience; or,
  • ​Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Economics or related fields from an accredited academic institution with at least 2 years of relevant professional experience.

    Experience

  • Experience in administrative and organizational work;

  • ​Experience in coordination of project activities;
  • ​Experience in working with migrants, displaced populations, veterans, and other vulnerable groups;
  • ​Experience of work in economic recovery, livelihoods, and/or technical and vocational education is an advantage;
  • ​Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.

  • ​Critical thinking, research, and analytical skills;
  • ​Knowledge of national labour market specifics is an advantage;
  • ​Advanced usage of MS Office.​

    Languages

Fluency in English and Ukrainian is required (oral and written).

IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.

Responsibilities

  1. Assist in the overall efforts for implementation of the MSDL Projects.
  2. Assist in logistical preparation, organization and facilitation of the MSDL-related events (working groups, steering committee and other stakeholders’ meetings, discussions, presentations, visits etc.) and taking notes at such events as required.
  3. Maintain communication with (potential) beneficiaries and representatives of the implementing partners and service providers as assigned.
  4. Draft official and unofficial correspondence in English and Ukrainian.
  5. Provide informal interpretation and written translation (English/Ukrainian, and vice versa) as necessary.
  6. Provide administrative and logistics support required for the successful implementation of MSDL project activities and reporting.
  7. Draft required administrative documents for the activities under the Unit’s project.
  8. Provide support as necessary for project monitoring and evaluation.
  9. Undertake duty travel within Ukraine as required.
  10. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
  11. Support administrative coordination of project implementation, involving liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
