Purpose of the role
The Education Technical Officer is responsible for planning, implementation and delivery of Education program’s activities in Beirut and Mount Lebanon while contributing to the development and implementation of new Education activities in line with NRC’s strategy and standards.
What you will do
- Coordinate the Education activities according to strategy, proposals, budgets and plans
- Ensure adherence to NRC policies and donor requirements
- Involve and inform communities and community leaders about the activities
- Break down the annual operational plans into weekly, monthly and quarterly implementation plans
- Coordinate with relevant partners
- Ensure that procurement, development and distribution of materials and equipment are timely and according to procedures
- Supervise, train and develop team
- Prepare periodic progress reports and other documents as required
- Investigate and facilitate introduction of new technology, methods and approaches in order to improve the quality of the activities
- Ensure that NRC’s related activities are implemented with NRC’s Protection mainstreaming guidelines and reports any breaches /concerns to the line manager and/ or focal point for proper action
Specifically you will;
- Participate in design and implementation of education assessments (i.e. teachers training needs, students’ participation, school management, parent/community involvement in education etc…)
- Participate in design of training programs based on needs assessments
- Participate in the development of training module, both in English and Arabic
- Conduct teacher training in collaboration with education officers and provide technical capacity building of assistants when needed.
- Assist the coordinator in organizing and delivering trainings and workshops
- Carry out teacher coaching and follow up, observation and class visits, and spot check review of lesson plan
- Support and participate in the interview process of new teachers
- Review of curriculum and objectives scope and sequence
- Attend all workshops and trainings organized for educators and teachers or staff
- Coordinate and follow up on teaching material
- Ensure an integrating programming approach with other fields
- Support the development of M&E tools and systems to measure and analyze learning outcomes and to guide programmatic development
- Support in creating and reviewing tests and assessments tools
Report when required on activities and results to supervisors and relevant NRC staff.
Professional competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Education/Pedagogy or any relevant field
Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience in an education technical role
Extensive experience in teaching elementary classes or special education classes
- Knowledge of NGO operations and the dynamics of the humanitarian sector is a plus
- Strong documentation, research and report writing skills.
- Knowledge and relevant experience in child protection issues.
- Experience in designing, developing, and presenting training programs
- Experience in participatory programs.
- Experience in community sensitization/ mobilization.
- Proficiency in English and Arabic, both written and verbal
