IRC Background:

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster. Founded in 1933, the IRC is at work in over 40 countries and 25 U.S. cities helping people to survive, regain control of their future and strengthen their communities. The IRC in Salt Lake City opened in 1994 and provides resettlement services through extended case management to newly arrived refugees for up to 24-months as well as over twenty different programs to educate and empower refugees.

Job Overview:

The Economic Wellbeing Program Manager will oversee the office’s direct service programs that support income generation, asset building and financial capability. They will be responsible for ensuring that these programs meet performance goals per funder and contract requirements, are responsive to client needs, and operate within budget and compliance parameters. The position will directly supervise direct service staff and work with office leadership to ensure program sustainability through program and resource development activities including participating in proposal writing. The Economic Wellbeing Program Manager will take a lead in communicating program models, success, and outcomes to staff, community partners and funders. As a member of the office Leadership Team they will work collaboratively to leverage programming for highest impact through cross-program integration and significant contribution to overall program strategy formulation.

Major Responsibilities:

• Ensure that all programs consistently meet all established grant outcomes as well as internal benchmarks established by IRC senior management through regular and systematic case file reviews, implementing quality assurance protocols, engaging on data tracking/analysis and performing other administrative functions to ensure and provision of quality services;

· Provide leadership and supervision to direct service staff including leading team meetings, providing individual supervision, coaching and goal-setting, performance evaluation, managing workloads, and helping staff troubleshoot challenges;

· Draft high-quality program reports in a timely manner;

· Support program sustainability through program development and participating in proposal writing;

· Work collaboratively with other programs to ensure that programming is integrated into the continuum of IRC services;

· Significantly contribute to program and office-wide strategic planning and program design;

· Maintain relationships with local partners and donors together with office leadership and grow partnership opportunities;

· In coordination with office leadership develop and monitor department, program, and grant budgets;

· Other duties as assigned.

Key Working Relationships:

Position Reports to: Deputy Director of Programs Position directly supervises: Income generation, asset building and financial capability program staff and AmeriCorps VISTAs

Job Requirements:

• Undergraduate degree required; Master’s/graduate level education preferred.

• 4 years of program experience within economic development and/or the social services field;

• Experience supervising staff; preferably within a social services environment;

• Experience managing grant-funded programs, especially federally-funded programs, strongly preferred;

• Experience working in a direct service role preferred;

• Previous multi-cultural experience and demonstrated ability to communicate well with people of varied backgrounds strongly preferred;

• Competency in Microsoft Office required; additional technical skills an asset;

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to make presentations;

• Proficiency in a refugee language an asset;
