Job Description

Job Overview:

IRC Wichita’s Economic Empowerment Manager will oversee the coordination and administration of all aspects of ongoing programs, including Early Employment Programs of Refugee Social Services/Employment and Matching Grant, as well as Asset Building Programs of Career Development, Micro Enterprise, and any other economic empowerment programs that may be established. The Program Manager will develop and monitor annual and strategic plans for the department, ensure program goals are met, supervise and support staff, identify and secure grants to sustain/grow economic programs, and ensure reporting, compliance, and budgeting requirements are satisfied through oversight of team members and activities.

Major Responsibilities:

Program Design and Management: ------------------------------

· Plan for the overall department and its programs in accordance with the mission and goals of the organization.

· Ensure all programmatic, contractual, and donor requirements and IRC standards of care are met

· With input from the Deputy Director and program staff, establish and implement annual and long-term goals and objectives to successfully achieve outcomes related to Economic Empowerment

· Monitor program goals and take appropriate intervening action to ensure contractual compliance and goal attainment

· Ensure the design and implementation of a department-wide evaluation framework to assess the strengths and areas of needed improvement for each programmatic area

· Guarantee accurate and timely financial and client-related recordkeeping throughout the department, including the use of ETO, IRIS and RDC systems

· Ensure oversight and monitoring of case files for proper file documentation.

· In coordination with the Finance Manager, develop and monitor department, program, and grant budgets

· Other duties as assigned

People Management -----------------

· Supervise, coach, and support the development of Economic Empowerment program team members in accordance with IRC’s People Manager Standards.

· Provide career development and learning opportunities to Economic Empowerment staff to build the service delivery leadership strengths of all within the department.

Resource Development and Partnership Development: -------------------------------------------------

· Develop new and sustainable initiatives to support the strategic direction of the organization

· Develop funding proposals for the department’s programs to ensure the continuous delivery of services

· Sustain and grow partnerships with the local business community and other strategic partners to maximize their coordination, cooperation, and support.

· Represent Economic Empowerment in the community and to potential funders, serving as a resource to those seeking information about program activities

· Other related duties as needed

Job Requirements:

Education:

· Bachelor’s degree required; preferably in social work, international relations, or other relevant field

· Graduate degree preferred

Work Experience:

· 4 or more years of related, progressively responsible experience in nonprofit program development and management

· Grant writing experience

· People management experience

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

· Familiarity with the job market in Wichita, with an understanding of Economic Empowerment programs that build economic self-sufficiency, personal financial assets and financial literacy

· Demonstrated ability to promote an organizational culture that reflects IRC’s core values of service, accountability, integrity, and equality. Ability to lead in a way that recognizes that IRC’s work is best accomplished through the true collaboration of individuals from many cultures with a great variety of skills and perspectives.

· Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; Bi-lingual abilities in a refugee language helpful

· Superior time management and organizational skills

· Ability to effectively communicate and work as a team leader and team member in a cross-cultural environment.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)

· Valid driver’s license, access to vehicle with current insurance, and the ability to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area

Working Environment:

· A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities.

· May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
