E T Consultant

Description

IFC—a member of the World Bank Group—is the largest global development institution focused on the private sector in emerging markets. We work in more than 100 countries, using our capital, expertise, and influence to create markets and opportunities in developing countries. In fiscal year 2021, IFC committed a record $31.5 billion to private companies and financial institutions in developing countries, leveraging the power of the private sector to end extreme poverty and boost shared prosperity as economies grapple with the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. For more information, visit www.ifc.org.

IFC has embarked on an ambitious new strategy to stimulate more investment activity by Creating Markets, including in Low Income Countries (LICs) and Fragile and Conflict Situations (FCS). This new strategy requires a shift in our approach to proactively create, deepen, and expand markets and projects rather than waiting for clients to propose projects for IFC to finance. This strategy also relies on upstream work with Governments and World Bank colleagues to enable private sector solutions and financing. We call this approach the “Cascade.” Working with clients, we will first seek private sector solutions to address development challenges, where such solutions are advisable and can be effective, and reserve public financing for projects only when other options are suboptimal.

IFC has invested in supporting the increasing volume of IDD research requests and is seeking qualified candidates to support the processing of its IDD research requests.

IDD Research Team is responsible for supporting the information and service needs of IFC staff related to IDD Research requests. IDD Research Team members demonstrate expertise in various areas of information delivery. They have outstanding customer service, teamwork, communication, and support skills.

IFC is seeking to recruit two Consultants – Integrity Due Diligence (IDD) Research Analysts, to work with the Corporate Reporting, Analytics and IDD Research (COMRA) team within the Corporate Operations Management Department (COMD). COMD reports directly to the IFC Chief Operating Officer (COO). COMD acts as a liaison for all issues relevant to the Operations Vice Presidency (VPU) and coordinates with support functions (e.g. Portfolio Management, Strategy, IT, HR, etc.). In these discussions, COMD acts as a facilitator with the goal of making IFC, and in particular the Operations VPU, more efficient and effective. In addition, the unit is tasked to enable better cross-departmental coordination across IFC and the WBG.

The successful candidates will join the IDD Research Team within the COMRA and will work with internal clients across the Regions and in HQ (Washington DC).

Role & Responsibilities:

• Conduct Integrity Due Diligence (IDD) checks as requested by IFC staff.

• Research names/entities using the Dow Jones Risk & Compliance Tool and Factiva, for negative news, sanctions, and any other negative information that could impact the IFC’s partnerships, prospective and existing client engagements and projects.

• Ensures IFC staff receive the most comprehensive information in a timely fashion --- within our Service Level Agreement (2 business days or as agreed with client based on their deadline and volume of requests).

• Use ServiceNow case management system (or equivalent system) to track & document all IDD requests and answers.

• Knowledge management and sharing; may teach others on tips and tricks for effective IDD searching and share any highlights on challenging requests and how they were resolved.

• Ownership of and accountability for implementation of corporate actions, initiatives, and policy changes.

• Standardized and effective reporting on IFC’s program and pipeline to meet unit and management needs.

• Coordination with Human Resources (HR) Team and oversight of staffing across Operations.

• Acting as business lead for IT projects that are relevant for Operations to ensure that they effectively address the needs of Operations and help increase efficiency.

• Engaging with Knowledge Management (KM) teams (industries/regions) to ensure effective KM practices implemented across operations.

• Supporting COO, Regional Vice Presidents (RVPs), Global Head Industries (GHIs) to engage with and articulate better to the Board.

• Facilitating a cohesive, strategic approach to Advisory services (AS) and ensuring that Advisory is appropriately represented in all corporate reporting.
