Organizational Setting

The position is located at the FAO Representation in Georgia. The main aim of the FAO country offices, which are headed by the FAO Representative, is to assist governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors, and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner.

Reporting Lines

Under the overall responsibility of the FAO Representative and the Assistant FAO Representative in Georgia and the direct supervision of the FAO/ENPARD Coordinator (GCP/GEO/011/EC), the Driver provides reliable and safe driving services ensuring high accuracy of work. The Driver provides driving services to the FAO national staff and FAO international staff on mission under the ENPARD III project.

Technical Focus

The Driver demonstrates a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and the ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Ensure provision of reliable and secure driving services by a) driving office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel and delivery and collection of mail, documents, procurement items, etc and b) meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport, visa and customs formalities arrangement when required. • Ensure cost-savings through proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports. • Ensure that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents. • Any other duties as required by Supervisor.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

• Secondary education, valid driver’s license • 3 years’ work experience as a driver (preferably in an international environment) • Safe driving record • Excellent Knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair • Fluency in Georgian. Knowledge of English and Russian languages would be an asset • National of Georgia.
