Organizational Setting:
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations is mandated to build a world where everyone has access to safe, nutritious food. FAO office in Mongolia has a diverse portfolio of projects and activities to support the Government Counterparts in Mongolia in addressing challenges related to the sustainable transformation of food systems and management of natural resources and the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals in Mongolia
Reporting Lines:
Driver will work under the overall leadership of the FAO Representative in Mongolia.
Technical Focus
FAO Mongolia works with the vision "to be a leading, credible and responsive partner in ensuring food and nutrition security of the population". The office has been coordinating projects and programs in research, capacity building, natural resources management, technology transfer, food and agriculture policy, livestock production systems management, emergency, and post-crisis management, forestry information, statistics, food security and nutrition, emergency response Finance, crop production system management, food quality, and safety, and climate change measures
Tasks and responsibilities:
- Ensure provision of reliable and secure driving services by a) driving office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel to the field and in the city and delivery and collection of mail, documents, and other items and b) meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport, visa and customs formalities arrangement when required
- Get well familiarized with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) of FAO Mongolia and other FAO rules and regulations on safety and security
- Ensure cost-savings through proper use of vehicle and accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports
- Ensure proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing, etc.,
- Ensure availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, 1st aid kit, necessary spare parts
- Ensure timely distribution of letters and documents through accurate logs of distribution, documenting hand-to-hand delivery of mails and documents
- Complete regular training courses on communications, defensive driving, driving safety, advanced first aid, and vehicle maintenance as organized by FAO
- Assist passengers as required within the FAO rules and regulations
- Report to FAO Representations any accidents or incidents involving vehicles or passengers immediately, including actions not within the FAO rules and regulations requested by staff, consultants, or others
- Ensure that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents
- Any other actions are required and appropriate to ensure the success of the activities in consultation with the supervisors
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
- Secondary education.
- Valid Driver’s license B
- A minimum of five years of working experience in driving
- National of Mongolia or resident in the country with a regular work permit.

Technical/Functional Skills
- Professional driving license will be an asset
- Basic understanding of English and fluency in the national language of the duty station.
- Minimum 5 years’ work experience as a driver with a reputed organization.
- Working with international organizations or governments is an asset.
- Safe driving record.
- Knowledge of driving rules and regulations and technical skills in minor vehicle repair.
- Knowledge of protocol and customs issues.
- Be able to travel to the remote soums /provinces and knowledge of local roads and driving in the field.
- Teamwork and strong soft skills including interpersonal, ethical, listening, and communication skills, proactive, problem-solving, self-organizing, planning, setting priorities, and efficient use of time.
