Job Title: Digital Project Consultant

Type of Contract: Regular Consultant

Division: CAM Communication Advocacy and Marketing Division

Duty Station (City, Country): Home-based (relocation to Rome/Italy might be required in the future).

Duration: 6 months (extendable)

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

The Digital unit oversees the majority of the external facing online communications for the global channels. Our work streams include the management of WFP.org, the corporate communications site of the World Food Programme. The Digital Project Assistant will be supporting the revamp of WFP.org and the roll out to the language websites

ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the overall guidance of the Head of Digital and direct supervision of the Web Project Manager and UX specialist, the Digital Project Assistant will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Design and deliver training to the editors of the WFP.org platform in English, and make sure all the guidelines are updated to reflect the latest functionalities of the platform.
  • Draft email communications to inform the editors of the website on any aspect concerning their work on the platform (e.g. new features, downtime etc).
  • Help coordinate the translation and roll out of the new content produced in the global site in the different language websites.
  • Quality assurance: test new features and functionalities of the website and provide clear feedback to the developers.
  • Create and update web pages on the WFP.org content management system.
  • Support communications activities that enable informed decision making by collecting and analyzing data related to the website’s performances, and produce accurate reports.
  • Liaise and interact with WFP staff and external counterparts (developers and translators) to support the website activities and a coherent approach within WFP’s language versions.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Education:

University degree, preferably at advanced level, in Communications, Business, Information Technology or other related field. Cross-functional or other hybrid degrees (e.g. a humanities/tech split) are desirable.

Experience:

A minimum of 4 years of work experience in similar roles and in an international environment.

Knowledge and skills:

  • Experience with content management systems (preferably Drupal CMS).
  • Knowledge of Agile methodology and Human-centered design (HCD) will be considered an asset.
  • Be detail orientated.
  • Able to collaborate on tasks with the team as well as to work independently when needed.

Language:

Excellent knowledge of English both oral and written is required. Knowledge of another UN language will be considered an asset.

WFP offers a competitive compensation package which will be determined by the contract type and selected candidate’s qualifications and experience.
