BACKGROUND: Founded in 1933, the IRC is a leading nonsectarian, voluntary organization providing relief, protection and resettlement services for refugees and victims of oppression or violent conflict. In the U.S., the IRC resettles approximately 11,000 refugees per year and provides numerous program services to assist the refugee from their arrival through citizenship. The Digital Inclusion Program supports digital skill development for newly arrived refugees and New Americans. The program provides clients with access to technology and cultivates a set of fundamental tech skills to improve their lives and livelihoods. This includes providing initial smartphone and data plans, affordable home broadband internet access, tech mentorships, and core resettlement services with integrated digital skills.

SCOPE OF INTERN WORK: With oversight from the Senior Digital Inclusion Project Lead, the Digital Inclusion Mixed Methods Research Intern will support the management of the study including overseeing the quantitative data collection process, with responsibilities for organizing interviews, tracking progress, overseeing data checks, and processes for data entry.

Qualifications

COMMITMENT: 3.5 months starting May 30th and ending September 1st, 15 hours per week.

Qualifications · Interest or background in working with refugees · Knowledge or background in digital inclusion · Acquire skills in using data analysis programs such as Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft forms. SPSS and ARC GIS, is a plus · Experience and/or coursework in qualitative and quantitative data methods and analysis · Demonstrated ability to work independently on projects with minimal supervision · Strong written and verbal communication skills · Working Environment: Intern will need to supply their own home workspace, computer, internet access, etc

RESPONSIBILITIES: · The Mixed Methods Intern will work to support the Research, Analysis, and Learning Unit's measurement team · In this role, the intern will work on current and on-going qualitative and quantitative data collection and visualization initiatives focusing on client voice and program data · She/he/they will work directly under the supervision and guidance of the Program Officers for Qualitative Data and Data Quality & Visualization · Support administration and implementation of data collection tools across RAI department · Contribute to the analysis of qualitative/quantitative data and to the presentation of data insights · Assist with data management and cleaning, as well as reconciliation and data analysis · Maintaining training resources, newsletters, and announcements · Provide support for meetings, communities of practice, and trainings · Other related duties as assigned · Learn skills for data collection, visualization, and distribution of client and program data in a nonprofit context · Enhance skills in data collection, data cleaning, and data visualization
