Result of Service The ultimate result of service will be to develop and edit new courses using Articulate, storyline, and related tools by:

1. Social Expenditure Monitor (SEM): A tool to Support Budgeting and Fiscal Policy Reform course in English, Arabic, and French;

2. Sustainable Public Procurement in Arabic (5 Modules);

3. Food Security;

4. Script videos of online courses, as needed;

5. ESCWA e-learning online course development guideline;

6. Assist in other ad-hoc activities as instructed (ESCWA Stories Project).

Expected duration 6 Months

Duties and Responsibilities The services of an Individual Contractor (IC) are needed to assist ESCWA in developing online courses and related digital content in the Office of the Executive Secretary (OES) and other units, in addition to other associated tasks as mentioned below.

The IC will work under the supervision of the Knowledge Management Team leader (KM), and the Coordinator of the Strategy, Planning, Accountability, Results, and Knowledge Section SPARK/OES.

In particular, the Digital Content Designer will be tasked to do the following:

  • Produce the design and production of online content, multimedia, videos, and product graphics.

  • Execute design deliverables across various mediums, including print and digital marketing collateral, logos, presentations, and websites.

  • Develop storyboards for the initial stages of course production, using creativity and artistic techniques to tell a story or provide visual form information.

  • Manipulate and edit videos, insert scripts and sound effects, and correct errors using editing equipment and software editing packages.

  • Gather and transfer all media forms into editing software and ensure each was updated in the correct format.

  • Craft solutions for layout and styling issues across multiple browsers and mobile devices.

  • Experiment with styles and techniques, including the design of graphic elements.

  • Place raw film footage from various sources and shoots and combine the latter with other scenes to create a cohesive story.

  • Bring sight and sound together to tell a cohesive story.

  • Assist in other ad-hoc activities as instructed.

    Qualifications/special skills A Bachelor's degree in fine arts, graphic arts, or a related field is required.

All candidates must submit a copy of the required educational degree. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. Four years of experience in designing online courses, video making, and editing, using specific editing software packages (Articulate, Storyline) is required. Proficiency in Adobe Cloud suite of products, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Microsoft Office is required Multimedia experience with film and animation graphics is required. Experience with digital technology and editing software packages (Articulate 360, Storyline 360, Rise 360) is required. Experience working with content on digital products is desirable.

Languages Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; and Arabic is a working language of ESCWA.

For this position, fluency in English and Arabic is required.

Note: “Fluency” equals a rating of ‘fluent’ in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and “Knowledge of” equals a rating of ‘confident’ in two of the four areas.
