Result of Service The successful candidate will work remotely on a full-time basis and will provide support to the Communication Unit which is part of the Executive Office of the Secretary-General.

Work Location Home Based

Expected duration The contract will be effective from date of signing for a period of six months and in the case of successful performance may be extended upon confirmation of the organization’s needs.

Duties and Responsibilities Digital content production - Support the implementation of the work programme of the Communications Unit as well as strategic communications and outreach strategy - Assist with the production of reports, brochures, leaflets, presentations and other communications products - Assist with the production of visual and interactive digital communications products for a range of programmatic activities (deep-sea research, capacity development, international negotiations, etc.) and events (UNCLOS at 40, 2022 UN Ocean Conference, etc.) including web interactive content for public mobilization, advocacy campaigns and international days (simple and complex) - Support all stages of the production workflow, including but not limited to creating project briefs, concepting, creative feedback, research (content, photos, videos), fact checking, scripting creative copy, etc. - Create and/or support the production of visually compelling elements including infographics, custom data visualizations, charts, interactive reports, animations, videos, photos and other visual materials whilst ensuring visual branding standards and donor acknowledgment, consistent and effective visual message for all areas of the programmes and activities implemented

Website and newsletters - Assist with keeping the website up-to-date by liaising with the different units at ISA - Assist with writing and publishing news articles and announcements - Assist with the production of ISA newsletters (MailChimp) - Regularly monitors and reports on web analytics to inform digital strategies online

Multimedia materials: - Contribute to multimedia production such as project videos, official video statements and podcasts, including drafting scripts and identifying footage and images - Support the production of podcasts by identifying relevant topics and speakers

Social media - Create compelling content for use on ISA social media channels - Propose, conceptualize and implement social media campaigns

Qualifications/special skills Skills: Skills and Competencies:

- Strong writing and editing skills - Creativity - Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills - Strong sense of aesthetic and design, - Ability to translate complex content into simple visual assets (infographics, graphics, presentation slides, etc.) - Ability to creatively solve problems and be responsive to colleagues and partners - Excellent organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously - Ability to work well as part of a team, willing to both accept feedback and offer ideas - Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, and dynamic environment that emphasizes excellence, and teamwork Academic Qualifications: Advanced university degree in digital communications or a related field is required Experience: - 5 years of relevant professional experience in the field of digital communications, preferably with an international organization - Sound knowledge of web 2.0 and digital technologies - Demonstrated expertise in creating a range of digital content - Experience using content management systems like Drupal or WordPress - Expertise with Adobe Creative Cloud (including video editing software) - Experience in filming / video editing - Knowledge of email marketing campaign management and list development - Knowledge of the law of the sea, the marine environment or deep-seabed mining a plus Language: Excellent command of English, particularly written; other UN languages an asset.

Terms and conditions of payment

The consultant will be paid monthly.

The work shall be performed at the Consultant’s home base; the Consultant will be required to meet remotely with the ISA Secretariat staff on issues related to the deliverables.
