Job Description

Job Overview:

The Development Assistant is as a member of the Resource Development department and works closely with the Senior Development Manager to leverage individual and corporate financial and in-kind donors to support the IRC in Atlanta’s unrestricted fundraising efforts. The Development Assistant provides administrative support for the organization’s portfolio of individual current and prospective donors through cultivation strategies including gift acknowledgement, mail appeal preparation and management, donor database management, Salesforce reporting, and maintaining accurate donor files. Additionally, the Development Assistant will provide general office support to include preparation of correspondence, data input, filing and other duties as needed. This position will report to the Development Manager and is a full time position.

Major Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Assist with the creation and production of annual appeals, monthly solicitation and cultivation materials, daily gift acknowledgements and other written materials to engage current and prospective donors, deepen donor commitment and enhance giving in a prompt, efficient and thoughtful manner within agreed timelines - Conduct research on current and potential donors to prepare briefing and debriefing materials for face-to-face meetings with major donors conducted by the Senior Leadership Team - Support special events planning, preparation and implementation, including managing and tracking attendees, donations, and all other associated logistics - Use Salesforce to accurately track and maintain donor databases and donations processing systems - Use Salesforce to produce accurate and timely monthly reports for the Senior Development Manager and Senior Leadership Team - Use Salesforce to create and accurately maintain segmented donor portfolios based on pre-determined criteria to drive targeted cultivation of donor segments in partnership with the Senior Development Manager - Provide general administrative support to the Resource Development department including managing calendars and deadlines - Recruit onboard, train, and engage volunteers in projects both client facing and non-client facing - Recruit, onboard, and train interns each semester - Help manage HOME Teams by answering questions, working with caseworkers, etc. - Assist with in-kind donations drives - Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred, preferably in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration or Public Administration with a concentration in fundraising.

Work Experience:

- Minimum of one (1) year of professional work experience required

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

- Experience with Salesforce donor management database and email content management platforms preferred - Excellent Microsoft Office skills and ability to learn new computer applications rapidly - Proven, superior organizational skills in a complex, multi-tasking environment - Outcome driven work style, establishing clear expectations and ongoing measurement of performance toward achieving targeted outcomes - Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, to work independently as well as in a team - Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with current and prospective individual, corporate and in-kind donors and volunteers, partner agencies, multi-cultural clients and colleagues on all levels - Experience working with refugees and immigrants, international work and/or non-profit experience is highly desirable. - Commitment to the mission of the IRC

Working Environment:

- A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities.

- Will require weekend and/or evening work; off-site travel required.
