Result of Service The consultant's service will mainly be to successfully manage and coordinate the 2nd Arab Forum for Equality, with weekly update reports to the forums task force.

Duties and Responsibilities UNESCWA’s Cluster 2 on Gender Justice, Population and Inclusive Development is seeking to hire the services of a Coordination Consultant to support the Cluster in undertaking associated functions as presented below.

The consultant will coordinate the organization of the 2nd Arab Forum for Equality (6-7 June 2023) that aims to continue the discussion generated during the first Forum (Amman, 30-31 May 2022) and engage multi-stakeholders in a dialogue focused on practical solutions to tackle inequality. The theme of the second edition of the Forum is “Food security in the Arab region: a necessity, not an option”. In addition to discussing the inequalities in the area of food security in the Arab region, participants will discuss policies to reduce inequality. The Forum will bring together experiences from various countries around the world in this area.

Qualifications/special skills A Master's degree in social sciences, international relations, international development or law is required. A Bachelor's degree in the same fields above with at least 8 years of experience would be acceptable.

All candidates must submit a copy of the required educational degree. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. A minimum of 6 years of work experience with international development or humanitarian agencies, preferably on project implementation or management is required. Experience in coordination and liaison functions with internal and external clients is required. Experience in partnership development with development organizations, including non-governmental organizations and other stakeholders is desirable. Networks among CSOs and other stakeholder organizations in the Arab region is desirable. Experience in working on social affairs is desirable.

Languages Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; and Arabic is a working language of ESCWA.

For this position, fluency in English and Arabic is required. Knowledge of French is required.

Note: “Fluency” equals a rating of ‘fluent’ in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and “Knowledge of” equals a rating of ‘confident’ in two of the four areas.
