Expected duration ¿ The duration of the consultancy is 6 to 11 months, extendable according to performance and availability of funds. ¿ Remuneration for this consultancy will be 1,600 USD, depending on the fund availability, qualifications, and relevant experience. ¿ The incumbent can be in any UNRWA field of operations (Gaza, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, or West Bank).

Duties and Responsibilities - Troubleshoot complex problems; familiarity with ITIL best practices; engage in the incident and problem management; including engagement in governance processes, e.g., CAB (Change Advisory Board) participation. - Full engagement in the maintenance lifecycle of applicable equipment/processes in the respective domain/area. - Monitor and escalate as needed for any system anomalies in their respective domain. - Project support as a technical member. - Perform and ownership of Disaster Recovery procedures, including documentation, coordination with other teams, development of procedures; Ownership of activation procedures in an actual event. - Production support. - Collaborate with other teams as needed. - Perform technical documentation and review with knowledge of industry best practices. - Familiarity with business continuity framework. - May be required to work outside working hours. - Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: ¿ A university degree or master’s degree from an accredited educational institution in information technology, information management, Information systems, computer science, computer engineering, Software engineering, Business Administration, Management, or other related disciplines;

Experience: ¿ A minimum of 5 years of experience for a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years for a master’s degree in Windows server administration and operations, or related.

The resource MUST have the following skills and experience: - Work experience in Windows administration and operations. - Work experience in Windows patch management, vulnerability, and remediation. - Work experience in installing, configuring, and maintaining Windows servers. - Work experience in VMware, vCentre, SRM, and vSphere replication.

The resource SHOULD have the following skills and experience: - Knowledge of cloud computing technology (Azure). - Knowledge of scripts, automation, and Windows Task Scheduler. - Knowledge of financial systems administration (ACBS, Summit, Bloomberg, Reuters). - Knowledge of security scanning tools and patch management tools (Shavlik). - A good foundation in OS, File Systems, AD/DNS, storage, and network.

DESIRABLE CERTIFICATES

  • Microsoft Windows administration
  • VMware administration

Language: ¿ Fluent in spoken and written English. ¿ Knowledge of Spanish or another official United Nations language is desirable.

Additional Information UNRWA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with United Nations International Computing Center (UNICC) to enhance livelihood and human development opportunities for Palestine refugees in Gaza. United Nations International Computing Center (UNICC) is a UN agency that provides IT services to other UN agencies on a cost-recovery basis.

UNRWA Information Management and Technology Department (IMTD) is seeking a Windows Administrator to work on UNICC as part of the OPBR ADB Customer IT Resilience Team and is responsible for administrating and maintaining the operations of Windows servers.
