Expected duration ¿ The duration of the consultancy is 6 to 11 months, extendable according to performance and availability of funds. ¿ Remuneration for this consultancy will be 1,600 USD depending on the fund availability, qualifications, and relevant experience. ¿ The incumbent can be in any UNRWA field of operations (Gaza, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, or West Bank).

Duties and Responsibilities ¿ Provides technical support to the ICC virtualization Infrastructure’s users (host virtualization, connectivity, performance, troubleshooting, etc.). ¿ Administers the ICC’s Virtualization Infrastructures’ systems. ¿ Perform installations and maintenance of VMware ESXi, Microsoft Hypervisor, and OVM/OLVM. ¿ Supports the daily monitoring, reporting, alerting, and troubleshooting complex virtualization environments. ¿ Creates and maintains detailed technical and graphical documentation as needed. ¿ Develops/updates tools and scripts to improve and automate the administration of the virtualization operations. ¿ Provides on-call rotation-based support outside of business hours. ¿ prepares technical documentation. ¿ Perform other duties as may be required.

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: ¿ A university degree or master’s degree from an accredited educational institution in information technology, information management, Information systems, computer science, computer engineering, Software engineering, Business Administration, Management, or other related disciplines;

Experience: ¿ A minimum of 5 years of experience for a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years for a master’s degree in administering and troubleshooting VMware 6.x/7 infrastructure, including ESXi, vCenter, Horizon View, VSAN, and other related technologies.

¿ Hands-on experience with Microsoft Hyper-V, SCVMM, and OracleVM/OLVM (KVM) ¿ Proved experience with host integration activities as per storage market leaders’ best practices ¿ Knowledge of Hyper-Converged Infrastructure or Software-Defined Storage solutions ¿ Knowledge of Linux and MS Windows Operating Systems and Windows Clusters administration, including storage multipath implementation and configuration ¿ Good understanding and knowledge of networking technologies (Ethernet, Routing, ARP, TCP/IP, LACP, etc.) ¿ Experience in shell scripting and automation tools (PowerShell, Perl, Bash, Python, Ansible…) ¿ knowledge of Veeam Management Pack for System Center ¿ knowledge of vSphere Replication, SRM, vCloud Director, vRealize, and other related technologies. ¿ Experience supporting HPE Blade/Rack systems and HPE OneView.

DESIRABLE CERTIFICATES

¿ VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, and Linux. ¿ Storage/Backup vendors’ certifications. ¿ ITIL.

Additional Information UNRWA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with United Nations International Computing Center (UNICC) to enhance livelihood and human development opportunities for Palestine refugees in Gaza. United Nations International Computing Center (UNICC) is a UN agency that provides IT services to other UN agencies on a cost-recovery basis.

UNRWA Information Management and Technology Department (IMTD) is seeking a Virtualization Administrator responsible for daily activities involving the ICC virtualization infrastructure management, such as monitoring, configuring, troubleshooting, and deploying related subsystems/components. He will be part of the team supporting the ICC shared services infrastructure operations and ICC’s customers-managed infrastructure (OPBO - Infrastructure Operation group).

The consultant will report administratively to the Head Information Technology Service Centre at Headquarters Gaza and technically to United Nations International Computing Center (UNICC).
